Blurb: On September 1, 2011, TJ Klune wrote, “…it’s not about the ending, it’s about the journey…” in a review of Eric Arvin’s Woke Up in a Strange Place. With those words, two men began a journey of love and invited us to ride along. TJ and Eric have shared so much with us: their wonderful books, their smiles, their humor, their lives, and their inspiring devotion to each other. In December of 2013, their journey took a detour when Eric was taken to the emergency room. He survived the surgery to remove a cavernous hemangioma from his brain stem, but the challenges TJ and Eric face are far from over.
The authors in this anthology donated their talent as a way to support Eric’s continued recovery, to help bring strength to TJ, and to show both of them just how much love surrounds them. Grand Adventures is a diverse range of stories about the journey of love. We’re going on some grand adventures for a great cause. Thank you for joining us.
One hundred percent of the income from this volume goes directly to TJ and Eric.
Review: It’s been awhile, but lately I’ve been going through my TBR shelf and reading my anthologies that have been sitting, patiently waiting. I really do love ‘em. Heck, what fun to read so many stories in one book, so when I saw on Audible that Grand Adventures was available…well, it’s rare that you find an anthology on audio, and as with most anthologies, you get a couple that are not so great, or there are a couple of stories that cut off just when things start to get interesting. Aaaargh is all I’ve got to say about them! But most of these stories were rather well done, and there were quite a few that made it more than worth my time to alternate reading and listening to Grand Adventures.
You really can’t go wrong with these authors such as Rhys Ford, Mary Calmes, John Goode, and Amy Lane. Then there’s some that hit me on a personal level:
That Place Across the Hall by C.C. Dado (Narrated by John Solo)
An Atheist and a Yoga Instructor Walk into a Bar by Rowan McAllister (Narrated by John Solo)
Last First Kiss by LE Franks (Narrated by Peter B. Brooke)
From Fantasy to Friends by CR Guiliano (Narrated by Aaron Pickering)
The Jogger by KC Burn (Narrated by Finn Sterling)
Object of Care by Zahra Owens (Narrated by Andrew McFerrin)
Stripped by Shae Connor (2nd Edition) (Narrated by Peter B. Brooke)
Then there are the humorous ones:
Kid Confusion by Madison Parker (Narrated Nick J. Russo)
Stalking 101 by Moria McCain (Narrated by Aaron Pickering)
I also enjoyed, at the start of each story, all the kind words each author had to say about TJ and Eric. As for the audio performances, it looks like I have some new narrators to keep an eye out for when selecting my next audio. All the narrators did an excellent job! It’s why I was able to listen to all of these stories and select my favorites for a re-listen .
Grand Adventures is a 5 star listen, and I would highly recommend it to those who like variety in their audio books.
Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!
