Review: Where do I start with Campus Cravings? How about with Wow! I was totally blown away by the caliber of the stories in this collegiate anthology. The only thing I can say about this book is that I loved it and that I could not get enough.
All the stories take place at Cathia University, a mythical college in upstate NY, a place that became so real for me that I wanted to go there. I actually liked that Cathia U was the thread that connected all the stories, and some characters crossed over from one story to another, which made the anthology that much more enjoyable for me.
The theme of Campus Cravings is hot jocks being paired up with sexy nerds in a college setting, where hormones and sexual exploration butt heads with maturing and entering the post college world. Not all the pairings are between students, some are between teachers too. All I can say is hot, hot, hot!
College brings many freedoms, and sex is just the tip of the iceberg. Some of the characters come to college to come out and explore, and a couple of the stories dealt with the first times. I loved those because the first time theme is my favorite, but most of all they are the sweetest, and what’s better than reading about a perfect first time?
The stories run the gamut from unrequited love turning into real love, to a virginal teacher only wanting sex ed lessons but getting love in return. All the stories had the balance of angst, lust, sex and love. All these stories had a good dose of humor that just made me laugh out load. In other words, perfection.
I usually pick one story and review it, but this time I just couldn’t pick a favorite because I truly enjoyed them all. But I will mention Winning Bracket by Annabeth Albert, because there’s a reference to another book with an Asian lead character, No Souvenirs. I love this book, and it’s my go to book when I need something funny and hot. If you haven’t read it, you must!
Campus Cravings represented the fantasy of college I didn’t get to experience firsthand, but which was brought to life through these wonderful stories.
