Review: 2009 was a great year to become permanently hooked on M/M romances, and Z.A. Maxfield earned a permanent spot as one of my favorite must-read authors. Family Unit is a reread on my shelf, mainly because it deals with a couple in their forties, and I love its humor. Both characters have had a previous relationship that didn’t work out for various reasons, but they’ve been lucky enough to find each other this late in the game.
Richard and Logan are, by far, one of the cutest couples to have the pleasure of getting to know as their courtship develops into something more. There are definitely some laugh out loud moments, with lamp posts, suppositories, and expiration dates on condoms, just to name a few. And, while Richard is a pacifist, Logan is ex-military, so it was interesting to see how the two got along when it came to dealing with some of the more angsty-er moments. I was so glad to see the two handle these situations with the certain amount of maturity that comes with age.
Okay, so I’d seen Family Unit come out in audio format, and after squealing like a pig, I decided it was a must have! All I can say about the audio version of Family Unit is that I still love it! JP Handler did an excellent job of bringing this story to life! It was a perfect way to re-experience the story and to give it a new perspective.
Also I would like to add a big thank you to Z.A. for updating the book cover. The original cover had a picture of two men who looked more in their sixties than their forties, so big thumbs up for the change!
Family Unit is still a happy 5 Star rating, and I’m hoping for more audible by this author, especially Drawn Together and Crossing Borders ::hint hint::
