My apologies for the delay. We had a bit of an incident in the canteen this morning. Welcome to the THIRDS. I’m Sloane Brodie, Team Leader for Destructive Delta. I appreciate you taking the time to be here. What’s that? I don’t sound very convincing? I agree. I was told to say that. Let’s get one thing straight, my top priority is the wellbeing of my team. If you were as hounded by the press as we are, called every name under the sun, and had your picture splashed across every paper in New York City, you’d be a little cynical about it too. There’s nothing you can write about me that hasn’t already been written. So on that note, let’s get on with it.
Canteen incident notwithstanding, it’s been a quiet morning, which means it won’t stay that way for long. Every morning, we put on the uniform, and—providing we’re not called out, we check in with Themis—the THIRDS intelligence network—for any urgent or pending messages. We check our emails, voicemails, and all other communications before heading down to the canteen for our much needed second or third cup of coffee. If you’ll follow me, I’ll escort you into Unit Alpha where my office is located.
Through these glass doors here is the bullpen. Depending on the time of day, it can be packed with Defense agents or empty with everyone out on the streets. There are ten squadrons in Unit Alpha and each office belongs to a team of two agents. I share this office here with my partner Agent Dexter J. Daley.
Where’s Agent Daley? He’s… currently in the middle of an impromptu training session with our sergeant. You can sit at his desk there. Don’t touch anything. Yes, that mug does really say ‘I pooped today’. I am not going to discuss it. I’ve already had a conversation with my partner in regards to it and frankly, it’s one conversation too many on the subject. What? You’ve never seen a Rubik’s Cube before? It helps him think. It also distracts him when I need to get something done. He’s never been able to work it out and that one doesn’t have the colored stickers he can peel off and cheat with.
I am not smiling. Nope. All right, I might be. A little. He has that effect on people. Has Sparks given you a list of what not to do around him? Good. Listen to it. I see you have questions. Go for it.
Did he have something to do with the squirrel incident in the canteen? What do you think?
Is that kind of thing typical around here? Yes.
What’s it like being his partner? Exhausting.
Not all the time. He’s… All right, look, he’s a great guy and an exceptional agent. A little unorthodox at times—okay, he’s freakin’ weird, and oh my God, he has no OFF switch, but he’s also… pretty spectacular. Smart, funny, sweet, with this uncanny ability to know what you need to hear when you need to hear it. He’ll always have your back, never give up, and somehow always ends up with a smile. He has a pretty amazing smile. That’s what’ll get you first. It’ll disarm you if you’re not careful. Then his eyes, his laugh, and the way he moves. Um, sorry. I went off track. That was all off the record by the way. I’ll show you around the department and then pass you off to Agent Daley. He should be available by then. You’ll be unsupervised as I have a meeting. Try not blow anything up. Maddock hates it when we cause property damage.
Laugh it up, but it happens more often than you think. It’s not our fault. Most of the time.

New York City’s streets are more dangerous than ever with the leaderless Order of Adrasteia and the Ikelos Coalition, a newly immerged Therian group, at war. Innocent civilians are caught in the crossfire and although the THIRDS round up more and more members of the Order in the hopes of keeping the volatile group from reorganizing, the members of the Coalition continue to escape and wreak havoc in the name of vigilante justice.
Worse yet, someone inside the THIRDS has been feeding the Coalition information. It’s up to Destructive Delta to draw out the mole and put an end to the war before anyone else gets hurt. But to get the job done, the team will have to work through the aftereffects of the Therian Youth Center bombing. A skirmish with Coalition members leads Agent Dexter J. Daley to a shocking discovery and suddenly it becomes clear that the random violence isn’t so random. There’s more going on than Dex and Sloane originally believed, and their fiery partnership is put to the test. As the case takes an explosive turn, Dex and Sloane are in danger of losing more than their relationship.

Maybe Sloane, because he’s PRETTY! :-)
These are so much fun! Thanks!! That pic of Sloane is wonderful. My partner pick is Dex. He keeps everyone on their toes and makes them laugh.
I’d love to be Sloane!
Face it, I’d like to spend time with all of them :)
These are so fun! I think I’d have to just sit back and watch the explosions instead of acting out my action hero alter ego ;-)
I’d want to be partnered with Dex. He is good at what he does but he also has a sense of humor. Thoughtful to everyone
Dex, I think. It would be fun!
