As the men begin to fall for one another, it appears nothing can go wrong – they seem to be soul mates. Secrets and lies can crack even the firmest foundation, though. It takes a true master to shore it up so that it never crumbles. Is love the mortar that can restore trust and faith and bind men forever? Only time will tell. Can Drakon and Matt take that chance?
Review: A Working Man is one of the most fun books in this series so far. In the previous book, A Fighting Man, we kind of got a heads up on Drakon and Matt hooking up. However, a plumbing problem separated the two before they could even exchange their names and, OF COURSE, it was a masquerade party, so how in the world would our two star crossed lovers find one another again? Well, would you believe it could be a misdial that brings these two men together? No? Okay then, how about a mishap on a treadmill at their shared gym? What if I told you it was both? I know, right? Hard to believe, yet it was one of the sweetest stories I have read recently.
Drakon is struggling to keep his head above water. He has a day job, but he supplements his income by working a second job at night. He can’t seem to meet Mr. Right, but lately there have been a few candidates he would like to take on a test drive. There was the guy he met at the party, the hottie at the gym, and then he gets a wrong number caller at his second job . All three men have qualities Drakon likes, and he would love to get to know any one of them better.
Matthew Hawke has been unhappy with is relationships for a while. Women just don’t seem to be doing it for him lately, and he has been finding more and more men attractive. What he has really been looking for is the man who could be his for the long haul, a true life partner. There have been a few candidates lately: there was the man he met at the party, a cute young thing at the gym, and then there is the guy he accidentally called. Any one of these men could fit the bill, if he could just get to know one of them.
As if they weren’t having enough problems, when Matt decides to make his move on the gym guy, it ends up going horribly wrong…at first. Drakon ends up helping Matt out and from there, they go on their first date and find out some very, shall we say, interesting things about one another.
That first date turns into more, and both men find themselves falling fast. However, Drakon has made some statements to Matt that lead him to not be fully honest about his life, and the one thing Drakon will not stand for is dishonesty. This leads to some major roadblocks for the new couple, but what is meant to be will be.
As usual, Ms. Sandrine takes us on a wild ride with these two, and she definitely leaves us wanting more. From the very beginning I have been enthralled by the Men of Manhattan, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. If you haven’t visited with these Manhattan Men yet, I highly recommend you give them a read. The books could stand alone, but I don’t think you would want to miss a second of these wonderful characters. Another hit for Ms. Sandrine, but I still think we, as readers, are the winners with this one.
