Review: There is just something I love about romance novels. I can’t pick just one thing. There are the MCs of each story, their struggles, their victories and yes, sometimes their failures. The overall feeling of “Love Conquers All” is usually there by the end, and it just gives me the warm fuzzies.
B.A. Tortuga has done all of this and more in Jenson and Mike’s story, Say Something. This story begins with two young men, just graduating high school. Jensen couldn’t afford to go to college even if he had the grades to do so. Mike, on the other hand, is on his way to college so he can become an actor. This is the first time Jenson has to say goodbye to Mike, but it won’t be the last.
Mike and Jenson’s story covers their life-long friendship, from high school graduation until they are both well into their adult years. Over the years, Mike and Jenson come together only to be separated time and time again by Jenson’s bad decisions to stay in hiding, and his sense of responsibility to the people he considers family.
Their friendship somehow continues to grow over the years. They are each other’s one true love, but they just can’t seem to get their timing right. The only thing they do get right is being there for one another during the good times and the bad. They survive marriages, deaths, sickness and recovery together over the years, and I barely made it through reading it. I mean, I haven’t cried this much while reading a book in ages.
I don’t want to give away too much of the plot in this review because I believe you have to read this to get the overall effect that Ms. Tortuga was going for. Let me just finish this review by saying that this is a MUST READ BOOK. If you are on a tight book budget, make sure this is on your must buy list. I would read this book over and over again if only I had the time. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that it ended.
