While he wishes for a better life, Brynn sees no way out, since he can’t leave his sisters behind. What little hope he finds comes from his best friend, Leila, who repeatedly offers to report his father, but is his rock. Then she surprises him with news that her brother is back in town. Brynn’s former crush, Adric, left town cursing Brynn’s name. Now, he offers to support Brynn in any decision that will get Brynn out of his horrible situation. But Brynn doesn’t know if he’s ready for his best friend’s brother.
Review: My Best Friend’s Brother is a story right up my alley. It has all the elements that I love, an emotional, twinky guy who’s caring and selfless, a heartbreaking situation and, to top it all off, a hot alpha man who’s more than willing and able to take charge. I really enjoyed this book. The plot’s a bit on the predictable side, but as I’ve said before it’s all about the writing and the story telling and how you feel after the read. I felt all tingly inside.
Brynn is the 24 year old twink who takes care of his younger sisters since his mom’s death. He tolerates his alcoholic and abusive father because Brynn’s afraid if he leaves, his father will turn his rage on his sisters. Their situation at home is not good, but Brynn will not jeopardize it for his sisters.
In walks Adric McPhearson, his best friend’s brother and his secret crush since Brynn figured out that he liked boys. Adric hasn’t been around for the past 10 years, and comes back to town a successful lawyer. There is an awkward yet funny reconnection between the two. Adric is supposed to be straight but as in all these types of stories, he’s not, and I loved it. This is the perfect fantasy of having a crush you thought nothing was ever going to come of finally acknowledge you and want to be with you forever.
In its predictable way, Adric wins over Brynn and helps him through a very emotional situation. Brynn’s sisters fall in love with Adric because he is perfect surrogate father material. I got totally sucked into it and was happy with the resolution. The boys get a very happy HEA! As a couple, I don’t think they could have been any more perfect! Brynn is waifish and emotionally strong, but at the same time needs emotional strength. And of course, hot Adric is the typical take charge alpha that goes perfectly with a twink. I absolutely love these combos because they are different yet complement each other in every way. The chemistry between the two is very much evident from the start, and when they get together it’s good, very good!
My Best Friend’s Brother is an entertaining read that will tug at your heart and leave you hot under the collar. I enjoyed it immensely and so will you.
