Blurb: Five couples try to find love on Christmas and in the process discover themselves.
Review: Have you ever made a Christmas Wish? Are you familiar with the saying, “be careful what you wish for?” Well, in this case it’s “be thankful for what you wish for.”
As with any Kol Anderson book I read, I’m ready for the dark, torturous, angsty read. I didn’t get it here and you know what? I got something even better. This has got to be one of the best feel good Christmas stories I’ve ever read. And that just proves what I’ve been saying all along about this author: pure genius.
Reminiscent of the movie Love Actually, this story follows five couples during the holiday season. There is an established couple about to tie the knot, a father and son moving on alone, a brother-in-law finding love with an unexpected person, two high school students finding friendship, and finally, live-in boyfriends who are trying to find balance and harmony in their relationship. Through their intertwined lives, they find love, happiness, acceptance and self worth.
This is the perfect read for the holidays. I loved that the author chose a Christmas time setting to write this story. It’s the time of year for family, friends, and lovers to come together and celebrate. Even though each story has a different tale to tell, they all share a common theme: finding true happiness, finding acceptance and most importantly, finding love. My favorite couple by far was Ryan and Christian. Ryan is extremely successful, while Christian is waiting for his big break. My first impression about this relationship was it’s all about the sex and nothing more. As I read further along, they definitely proved me wrong on so many levels. It wasn’t until the very end that I saw the love these two had for each other. It was beautiful.
I loved seeing a different side of this author’s writing. This one is so far removed from his other pieces of work. This was heartwarming, sweet and dare I even say it, a little bit fluffy? I didn’t think I could fangirl anymore over this author, but after reading this, yes I can.
If you only read one Christmas story this year, let it be this one. You will not be disappointed.
