As amazing as the sex is, Blake resists sweet promises. Love, trust, and happiness are as crazy to Blake as the bobcat he can shift into.
Review: I am a huge fan of shifter stories, and an even bigger fan of cowboy stories. Having said that, I figured this book would be right up my alley. Honestly, in some ways it was, and in some ways it wasn’t.
Blake Louis is not only an undercover bobcat shifter, but he is also gay. In the past, both of these things have caused him a lot of trouble. Working on the White family ranch has at least made the gay thing less of a problem for him, but he still has to hide his shifter side. Or does he?
Jared White is Blake’s boss and one of the owners of the White family ranch. That is the biggest problem for Blake. Not only is Jared his boss, but he is rich and powerful. He also isn’t a shifter. How in the world will Blake be able to overcome all these obstacles?
Well, like a song from my youth, there is a little place back in the woods called The Love Shack. This place is basically an old, converted barn turned bar that sets at the meeting point of the four largest ranches in the area. All the owners and hands go there to let off some steam and kick their heels up. Blake believes if he and Jared come together at The Love Shack they can meet on even ground.
This leads to some pretty steamy times between the two men, but it doesn’t solve all their problems. Eventually, Blake finds out that his shifter issue may not be as important as he thought it was, but some unfortunate situations lead to misunderstandings.
Jared’s childhood rival tries to drive a wedge between Jared and Blake and it will take some help from their friends and a lot of communication to get to the heart of the matter and put these men on the right track for their happily ever after.
I liked the basic outline of this story and I absolutely loved the characters. The one thing I didn’t like about this story was the over-used Big Misunderstanding storyline that took too long to straighten out. Overall this was a good read, and I would be interested in any other books that come along in this series.
