Blurb: Life for Charlie Sutton has never been better, or busier. With Travis now a permanent fixture of Sutton Station, a permanent fixture at Charlie’s side, Charlie’s convinced he couldn’t do anything on his ever-growing to-do list without him.

He can run a multimillion dollar cattle business, finish his degree, try and further the local beef industry, deal with staff issues, Ma’s failing health, and an attention-demanding wombat. He can even deal with an unexpected visitor and some shattering news.

He can deal with it all, as long as he has Travis.

But what happens when he doesn’t?

Red Dirt Heart 3 is the story of Charlie Sutton finally realising he can be the man Travis Craig deserves, even if he doesn’t have Travis. It’s a story of love, family, holding on, letting go and coming home.

Dividers

Review: When we last left Charlie and Travis, they seemed to be on track, working their way toward an EPIC HEA. There was even a new baby at the station, a wombat baby, but a baby nonetheless.

When we join back up with the boys, they are once again full-on entertaining and even hotter than before. Charlie isn’t quite ready to burst open the closet door, but he is slowly coming around. He is also getting back to the degree that was interrupted by his return to the station after his father’s death. Add in the fact that he is campaigning for a seat on the board of the Cattleman’s Association, and life seems just perfect. With Travis by his side, Charlie feels as if he can do anything.

Things start to go downhill when the boys realize Ma isn’t one hundred percent healthy. Then, to top off that craptastic news, an uninvited and unwelcome visitor to the station dredges up ancient history and carefully held secrets. If all of this weren’t enough, Charlie has the rug pulled from under him when Travis has to make a trip back to the States, and Charlie can’t go with him.

Charlie seems to never have been able to believe that he and Travis were a forever type of thing, and when Travis heads back to the States, it’s like all of his doubts have materialized. What Charlie fails to realize is that through all of his depressing thoughts and sadness, he is learning to be a better man and stand on his own two feet without Travis standing beside him.

This realization comes to him right about the time Travis’s trip to the States is resolved and he has never been happier to learn that he is strong enough to stand on his own. Charlie also realizes that no matter how strong he is on his own, he will never be complete without Travis by his side. There are still some big adjustments for them to make but I believe we are leaving them in a good place…until the next installment comes along.

N.R. Walker has completely captivated me with the characters, the terrain and the ongoing story of Sutton Station. From the moment I read book one, I have been firmly enthralled by these men and women and their lives. I feel there is an amazing balance of light and dark times for these characters and just the right amount of adversity to keep them on their toes. With the new characters introduced here in book three my interest in book four is definitely peaked.

If you haven’t visited Sutton Station yet, then I would highly recommend you add this series to your list and give it a chance. You won’t be disappointed.
