TRUTH OR DARE?
Remember the game truth or dare? If you selected truth, you had to reveal an often embarrassing secret. If you selected dare, you had to do something you fear. Why do we all play these games of chicken at certain times in our lives? I used to always pick the dare.
If I played the game today, though, I would do it differently. As I get older and I don’t give a crap as much about what anybody thinks, truth becomes easier for me to select. In contrast once I had kids, daring suddenly was harder for me. I didn’t want to put my little ones at risk in the world.
In Here for You, the main characters, a group of housemates in South Florida, do not play the actual truth or dare game. But in some ways, I set it up in the novel. You see, the main character Cole leans secret after secret about the roommates he thought he knew. The plot twists and turns on these secrets.
Cole also must face a few dares. The biggest dare, of course, is whether or not to go for his love for Ian and risk hurt or betrayal. He also has to go on several “dare” dates with Ian. Here they push each other out of their comfort zones. They challenge each other to try new things. While some of these “firsts” are pure fun, others are painful and bring up memories and fears long buried.
I never thought about this as I wrote the novel, but it truly could have been titled Truth or Dare.
Thanks for hosting me!
Have you ever played Truth or Dare?
Blurb: Life is a thread connecting us. One pull and it all unravels.
Cole Gannon arrives in the seaside town of Ocean Vista to work as a bartender and finally find a place to belong. Determined to make a home for himself, Cole lives happily with his four colorful roommates, whom he considers brothers. The only problem is Cole’s attraction to Ian Stark—a guy all wrong for him. He wishes he didn’t keep running into the sexy lawyer.
Ian knows Cole is attracted to him, but the younger man keeps him at arm’s length. It only makes Ian more determined to be with Cole and learn all his secrets. But while Ian has built a successful law practice, he hasn’t done too well with relationships.
When a sudden and devastating tragedy occurs, it shatters Cole’s world and throws Cole and Ian together in unexpected ways. In an instant, everything between them changes forever.

Haven’t read a book by this author yet, but just added to my TBR list. Thanks for the chance!
I used to play truth or dare, when I was younger. I always chose truth. You know, I’m not the most daring person in the world, and I’m boring so my secrets are not that scandalous…
Congratulations on your new release. The book sounds great!
Skyler is a great writer! Count me in pls
I’ve enjoyed the books in the Guy series.
Enjoyed the insight into the book. Thanks for the giveaway.
I used to play this all the time! Only when I couldn’t manage to interest everyone in a simple card game instead. :) I always chose truth because I’m not the most daring person.
I look forward to reading Here for you. Thanks for the giveaway.
I used to play Truth and Dare as a kid/teenager. And I am on the same page with you about it. Here for You sounds great. Thanks for the post!

I never liked playing truth or dare growing up, probably had to do with me being so shy/introverted. Looking forward to reading this new story! Thanks for the chance to win!
Love Skylar books. Thank you for the giveaway chance! I’ve played Truth or Dare a few times and I can’t say I really liked it at all.
I’m sad to say I’ve never played Truth or Dare or read one of Skylar’s books. Thanks for a shot at winning one.
I loved playing Truth or Dare as a teenager! I most of the time chose truth! Congratulations on the new release.
I played Truth or Dare at a rather traumatic slumber party in fifth grade…the girls were all kind of mean, so it wasn’t fun.
I always picked Truth. I never wanted to do anything outside of my comfort zone.
