Review: Alright…so, I read the book and got ready to write the review and looked up the book to get the blurb, and what do I see…? A super-hot cover that has Archer on it, exactly how I had pictured him while reading the book.
Breaking pretty much had everything I look for in books that I love. I love stories with law enforcement, military, hit men, that kind of thing, and this book had Archer! Archer was trying to get out of the business; he was closed off from any emotion, had nobody; didn’t want anybody, or more correctly, didn’t think he deserved anybody. And, due to a screwed up childhood and all those little steps along the way, didn’t know what it was like to love or be loved… He was broken.
Another thing I love in my books is alpha-type guys, and this book had not only one but two! Where Archer is out breaking the law, Conrad is on the side of the law—he’s a barrister. He may have grown up different than Archer but ended up just as lost and broken. I’ll admit that after reading the first book in this series, I wasn’t looking so forward to Conrad’s story. I didn’t like him all that much in Falling. I was wrong! Once you learn more about him, and why he acted the way he did, and watch as him and Archer start to mend each other, you can’t help but fall for these guys. The back and forth sarcasm between the two of them had me smiling, and when these two get together, the sex scenes are crazy hot!
I love a good drama. I love reading through and trying to figure out who the bad guy is. Sometimes it can get frustrating when you get it figured out right from the beginning, but that wasn’t the case here. I had a hard time putting the book down because I couldn’t wait to figure out who was after the guys.
The only issue I had as that the pace seemed to drag a little through the middle. There was just a little too much reading where I thought, didn’t we already do this? But, overall, I really loved the book and look forward to reading more by this author.
