Yet once Dylan steps into Avery’s world, he realizes there’s more to Avery than his prickly exterior, and that unexpected vulnerability calls to Dylan’s protective instincts. The sassy little hedgehog needs a keeper, and despite their horrible first impressions, Dylan starts to believe he might be the wolf for the job.
Review: Months ago I heard about a story that was going to have a Hedgehog shifter, and I giggled and thought, “Well, that’s different. I’ll have to make sure to watch for that one.” Then, while going through the books available to review I saw Prickly Business and couldn’t get my name down quick enough to be the one to read it and do the review. I am a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers story, and really enjoyed this one. I didn’t want to put it down, and wouldn’t have if work hadn’t gotten in the way.
I have to say I really wasn’t a big fan of either Avery or Dylan at the beginning. Dylan came across as a cold jerk, and Avery I disliked even more. He was snobby and kind of whiney and judgmental. I warmed up to Dylan pretty quick, though. I am a fan of possessive, growly guys in the books I read.
It took a little longer to warm up to Avery, but once that prickly guy got under my skin, I was a goner. Watching the push and pull between the two was exactly the reason I love these kinds of stories. When they finally give in to each other, and are able to see past that first impression, they are awesome together.
For me, the story seemed to end not really at an ending. The end seemed to come up quickly, just as I was really getting into their story. But, it will be fun to see what happens next when Prickly by Nature comes out. I can’t wait!
