Review: I wasn’t so sure about SJD Peterson when I first started reading her work. I loved her writing style, but there were a couple of her stories I just didn’t like. But damn! I’m so glad that I didn’t give up on this author, because she has become an auto-buy for me.
Her latest audiobook, Splintered, had me riveted on page one, and even though the MCs don’t meet until a few chapters in, I could tell there was a lot of forensics research done, which kept the storyline interesting. I was totally surprised by who the perpetrator was, but a little disappointed that the romance between Todd and Noah wasn’t more developed. I think a sequel should be considered. ::hinthint::
Since I’ve read the book and listened to the audio, I must say that Rusty Topsfield’s performance was excellent and brought Splintered to life. I love a narrator who can match the voices to the characters, as well as throw in some appropriate emotion when narrating. I’m just tickled pink when a story I’ve previously read and enjoyed comes out in audio, and its interpretation by the narrator is better than what my mind came up with while reading.
