Welcome to Glamour, Arizona, where the holidays are never dull. Glamour may be a small town, but the surprises keep coming.
Everybody’s looking forward to Thanksgiving. Only Mac Sharma is a reluctant guest. Even as Anthony and Dean make him feel welcome at the Carrino table, Mac feels awkward among the close-knit group of friends. Life gets even more complicated when Conor Harvey shows up in town.
Mac has been in love with Conor since his university days. Too bad Conor broke his heart—right before he fled to his hometown in Ireland without explanation. Conor is still a wild artist and as sexy as Mac remembers. But they’re no longer kids. This Thanksgiving, Mac must decide if he can once more open his heart to Conor.
In Glamour, life is full of heartwarming moments. As the guys from Glamour learn, holiday magic happens when love is all around.
Dogs and Dedications
So here is my cover reveal— and yep, there’s a dog.
I love animals, and I’ve written books with dogs and cats before, but this Thanksgiving novella was special.
Here’s the story: right before I started this book, my beloved dog died. She had been with me for 14 years. I was blessed to have her in my life that long.
Wasabi was a fantastic dog. A tall, black dog, with an always-wagging tail, Wasabi came to us from the humane society and simply stole our hearts. See it was a difficult period in my life fourteen years ago. My husband and I faced years of infertility. At that point, we had nearly given up hope of having children. We adopted Wasabi, and she was our first baby.
We sobbed and sobbed the day she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Note: No dogs die in this novella. It is pretty much a happy holiday thing. Promise. The dog on the cover here gets a happy story! All the guys do. If you are in the mood for a heartwarming, Thanksgiving tale, full of vignettes, this book will please you.
I did write the dog scenes with love in my heart. It was cathartic for me, and some of my favorite scenes in this book involve the dog.
When the time came, I dedicated this book to Wasabi. A little silly? I guess. But it made sense to me. I’m still glad I dedicated the book to my dog, my loyal friend. I miss her. I plan to donate some of the royalties in her name to the humane society where we adopted her.
Even though my family and I went on to adopt a new dog from a different rescue center this summer, my heart always holds her memory close. That’s the story of the dedication in this book.
As for the cover, I hope you all like it. I do. It makes me smile.
I’d love to hear about the special pet in your life.

About the Author: Skylar M. Cates loves a good romance. She is quite happy to drink some coffee, curl up with a good book, and not move all day. Skylar dreams about spending her days writing her novels, walking along the beach, and making more time for her good friends. On a shoestring budget, Skylar has traveled all over in her early years. Although, lately, the laundry room is the farthest place she has visited, Skylar still loves to chat with people from all around the globe.
I do understand you… I’ve always have had a dog or a cat (or both), and they’ve always been part of the family. It is so sad when they die… Right now I have a cat I adopted from a shelter, and she’s my baby. I cannot consider the idea of her dying..
I love the cover of your book. It also makes me smile!
Thanks for sharing your story.
Another Guy book. That’s great!
The new book sounds great and love that cover.
Two pets who were very special (both have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, too).
The first was the Alaskan Malamute we had when I was young. She was fierce to protect her family (some people thought she was a wolf) but patient and gentle with us kids. She was hit by a car during a family vacation and I was devastated.
The second was the cat my husband and I adopted when we were first married. He was our baby for a long time. He passed away at an old age from colon cancer.
Awww loved reading that. I love pets. I don’t have one right now but growing up we had cats and dogs
Love the cover. Thanks for chance.
I feel the same way about my reptiles. When my leopard gecko pheonix died, I was a complete and utter wreck. She was my baby and I loved her. Pets are always interesting additions to Romances just for that exact reason, people sympathyze with the pet owner more. The idea of a pet bringing two people together in some way is just too adorable for a lot of people to pass up.
I have two special pets in my life. Lucy and Lucifer, My Little Babys. Lucifer I got as a little kitten, just a few weeks old…. The people who owned the Farm were he lived wanted to kill him :-( Lucy I got before him because the child in her first Family was allergic to cats…….. If it comes to cats I am just a softhearted cat Lady…. I adore this little creatures
Great cover and it sounds fantastic =) I don’t have any pets at the moment.
Congrats on the new book! I have two cats Tycho & Kepler named of course for the scientists. We’re big on astronomy at my house :)
Congratulations on the new book, and the I love that cover! I always wanted a dog, but my mom didn’t like them and both my dad and I are very allergic to cats. It was a minor bummer as a kid that we couldn’t have pets like that. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s always hard to lose a pet that you’ve had in the family for that many years.
I don’t have any pets right now. But have always had dogs and 1 cat.
Thanks for sharing all these great comments with me!
I loved the Guy series, and it makes me so happy to see a new story coming out! Thank you for sharing Wasabi with us, too.
My sweet pup, Sammy, who lived to be an old dog, was such a pitiful thing. I’d gone with my mom to pick out a dog from this woman who rescues dogs who are just about to be put down. Sammy was the scarediest little thing. When I saw him and heard his story, I couldn’t go on to see any other dogs. It was going to be him. For the first week after he’d come home, he didn’t make a sound. Not a bark, not a whimper, nothing. I was convinced he hated me, and oh, I cried. No, he’d just been so traumatized before he was at the pound and maybe while there, too, that he just didn’t feel safe. After he realized he was at a good home, with good people who’d love him and not hurt him, he was all love. He’d sleep in my bedroom and stay with me all the time, except when he was visiting with my dad who he loved only slightly less. He was my cat dog, who’d get up on the roof via some back stairs, and would greet me when I’d come from from school, wagging his tail from the rooftop, and if he was really excited, he’d even jump down to say hi. He was with me from childhood into adulthood, and I’ve never been loved so well and so purely. I still haven’t gotten another pup.
Thanks so much for sharing about Wasabi. I also know how it feels to have a beloved pet not around any more. Due to life circumstances, I still do not have a pet currently, but hopefully soon. Love that there is more to see from Glamour.
Cheers, everyone, and many thanks for stopping by to enter Skylar’s giveaway. The contest is closed and the winner’s been drawn.
Today’s lucky reader is Silke Kohlmorgen.
Congratulations, Silke! I’ve just emailed Skylar with your contact information, so expect to hear from her soon. :)
