Blurb: Life is about making choices. For nineteen-year-old Jalen Marten, the choices he makes will not only affect his life, but the life and career of his superstar tennis player boyfriend, Austin Suter. Jalen spends the summer following Austin around the pro tennis circuit playing the supportive friend as Austin adjusts to life on tour.
Keeping secrets from people is hard enough, but when the media, a horde of new fans, and staff and family who all think they know what’s best for Austin are involved, it’s even worse. Coming out to the world is not an option, so Jalen is forced to hide in the shadows. It doesn’t always work, and Jalen begins to wonder if they should stay together. The next choice could make or break them as a couple, and both men wonder why love has to be so complicated.

Essentially the two stories are about making choices, which we all do daily. But sometimes, we have to make the big choices, the ones that will affect the direction our lives will take.
Writing Jalen was both a joy and a nightmare. He kept making choices I would never think to make, but hopefully, his journey of growth and acceptance are an interesting story.
“Everyone makes choices. You could actually say we don’t have a choice, because if you stay stagnant long enough, life will move forward and make the choices for you. Some choices are simple. Some are hard to make, but turn out to be right in the long run. Some are made without thinking. Others may take a couple days of thought before the decisions are made. Some shape our lives for years to come. The worst ones are those we know deep down are wrong, but we make them anyway and live with the consequences.
But sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you get a second chance to make the right choice.” ~ Jalen Marten

Exclusive Excerpt from Love Simplified: “I’m a tennis player. What does modeling skin tight jeans have to do with playing tennis?”
“Publicity, darling,” Lydia said. “We need to get your name out there so we can get more endorsements.”
“I’m not going unless Jalen comes with me,” Austin said. He folded his arms over his chest and frowned.
Lydia immediately called Will back in the room. They both freaked and did a lot of yelling, but Austin stayed tough. They caved, and Lydia accompanied us to the shoot as our shitty chaperone.
She lectured us the entire drive to the location.
“When I first met both of you, I seriously believed you two when you said you had no desire to be outed, but holy shit, it doesn’t seem like it.” She sneered and continued shouting at us. “Don’t stand too close, and stop staring at each other. You both wear your emotions on your face. It sort of makes me want to vomit. You seriously cannot like another person that much.”
Austin’s face turned a dark shade of maroon and he dug his fingers painfully into my thigh. “Lydia,” he said through gritted teeth. “Shut the fuck up, or I’m getting out of the car and heading into the nearest bar to get drunk.”
Our driver chuckled.
“You wouldn’t dare,” she said.
“Try me!” Austin snarled. “I’m legal here.”
Lydia clamped her mouth shut and stared at us, then grunted and dragged out her phone, choosing to ignore us the rest of the drive.
“She’s probably texting my dad to tell on me,” Austin whispered.
“That was awesome,” I said. “Yell at her again.”
