Blurb: Forty-eight-year-old art gallery owner Paul Strait loves the nightlife—wild parties, stiff cocktails, and even stiffer men! But his decadent lifestyle has grown lonely and now he’s looking for love. Some days it seems that what he wants must be a fantasy. Hoping that the perfect guy is out there he enlists the help of Madame Eve.

After all, a fantasy service like 1Night Stand should be able to deliver his fantasy man, right?

Josef Debrossé runs an exotic gay bar in the Caribbean known only to locals and select tourists. The many patrons coming in and out of his bar ensure Josef never has a shortage of lovers but he’s grown tired of being just a vacation fling.

Josef wants to be another man’s lover and partner, not a mere souvenir from the islands.

Lost in a dance of lust and allure, both men are thrilled with Madame Eve’s choice for them and feel an intense connection the moment they meet. Flirting over drinks quickly leads to the bedroom. But after their fiery lust has been quenched, the night goes from fantasy to reality without warning. Secrets and frightening pasts threaten to shatter the magical illusion of their perfect date.

Will this budding romance survive in the face of reality?

Dividers

Review: I’ve read a couple of Deanna Wadsworth’s stories before this, and remembered that I enjoyed them, so I had no problem diving into Finding His Fantasy, thinking it might be a fun sexy read by an author I was familiar with.

As I started reading, I found out that there are two books from the 1Night Stand series that introduce Paul and Josef as secondary characters. They are Accidentally Beautiful (Josef), written by Wadsworth, and Wise Men Say (Paul), written by Wendy Burke. I also found that once I moved past chapter one, the rest of Finding His Fantasy is a standalone novella.

At first, Paul comes off a bit insecure and rude when it comes to his friendships. He’s terribly jealous of Nick, who has stolen his best friend away—Emma, who is now Nick’s wife—and even though he’s “nice” to Nick, it comes off forced. Nick calls him out on it, and because Paul realizes that Emma is now another man’s wife, he realizes that he, too, would like to find someone to call his own…but on his terms.

So, with the help of Madame Eve’s services, Paul is matched up with someone who turns out to be the perfect man for him–Josef. Or everything seems perfect, at least, when these two men finally meet and hook-up, but Josef lets something slip out during a wild bout of lovemaking, which starts Paul asking some personal questions about him. Without revealing too much, I will say that Josef’s past was quite interesting.

But, it’s Paul’s past, when he eventually returns the trust he feels from Josef, that turns heartbreaking and helped me to understand why Paul was the way he was. This chapter alone made Finding His Fantasy a 5 star read because of what happened next between Paul and Josef. The only reason I’d take points off of that rating is because of the slow start to the story. It’s also best to give a warning that this part of the story might set off triggers for some people.
