Review: Jacob Z. Flores is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed this read from him. This title is a standalone from the Dreamspun Desires series by Dreamspinner Press. And it was temptation enough for me to look into a subscription to the series. I liked the idea of several quick, short reads that all have a happily-ever-after.
Undercover Boyfriend is a sweet tale of insta-love and family, and how not to go about building a relationship if your family is insane. Sorta. Poor Marty, I felt so bad for him, and yet I wanted to be part of his crazy, loving family. I really enjoyed Flores’ descriptions of Marty and his family. They were the typical large brood with a know-it-all sister, nosy mom and the watchful protector father. Luke is a bit more secretive about his family, and I wanted to know more about him.
Luke and his FBI partner, Crispin, AKA Crispy, were fun and funny, and though the FBI plot was a bit out there, I enjoyed it. I was a bit afraid I knew who the bad guy was, but was surprised by the twist in the tale. The story was fun and engaging enough for me to laugh out loud in some places and tear up at other points. The epilogue was sweetness personified, and I would love to see a family reunion of sorts with Luke and Marty in a continuation of the series.
