Dividers

Working as an emerging, self-published author is a tough gig.

I’m trying to hold down a day job and compete with authors who have a professional editing and marketing team, all while writing guest author blogs and getting ready to attend my first GRL event.

But I’m not complaining.

I’ve always wanted to be an author, and all of you are helping me realize my dreams. I’m grateful to the readers who have embraced my work, and I strive to improve my writing with each and every project. With the help of mm readers and betas, I can see my work evolving with each new release.

I truly hope Hard Press takes the Ashe Sentinel Connections series up a notch.  Below, you’ll find an exclusive excerpt and giveaway.

For those who have read my books, thank you. For those who will, I appreciate you taking the risk on a relatively unknown author. And for those planning to attend GRL, come say hello! I’ll be the shy redhead braving the crowds as I continue my writing journey.

Blurb: Julian has everything: good looks, flashy cars, a high-end condo. Until his girlfriend dumps him after a disastrous attempt to have a threesome. To top it off, he rear-ends a motorcycle and meets a pissed off biker who calls him on his shit. But there’s something about the man that hits his repressed buttons, and makes him want to finally pull his desires out into the light. But living up to the standards of an edgy but caring man proves a challenge.

Elliott feels like his world has spun off its axis, and if he can just get control of his life, he can breathe again. His parents’ deaths and his autistic brother’s need for a boarding school weigh heavily on him. When Julian hits his bike outside the news office where he works in the press room, he thinks the sultry man is a spoiled brat who knows nothing of real pain. But bringing him under control soothes something in Elliott’s soul — and Julian seems to need a steady hand, too.

Can these two very different men navigate the give-and-take of a relationship unlike any other they’ve experienced? For both of them, it will be a hard press.

Excerpt

“So, you’re gay. That makes things easier.”

Julian resisted the urge to deny it. He wanted to know where Elliott was going with that statement in case it worked to his advantage.

“Easier how?”

Elliott shrugged a shoulder. “I don’t have to break your face, for example.”

Julian’s eyes widened, and he shrank back against the wall. The hallway was too narrow to put much space between them.

Elliott laughed, a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through his chest and right under Julian’s skin.

“Relax, I’m not going to jump you.” He paused. “Well, not in a bad way.”

Julian was speechless. He stared at Elliott, his brain stalled out at the images of what jumping him in a good way might look like.

Elliott took another swallow from his bottle and gestured to Julian’s cranberry vodka.

“Drink up, gorgeous. We’re leaving soon.”

Julian gaped. “What?”

“Well, you still have to figure out how you’re going to compensate me for the damage to my bike. I’m sure we can figure something out that doesn’t involve my fist breaking your face.”

“Listen, I lost your number, but, um, I’ll write you a check. It was a mistake. I meant to get in touch. Seriously, there’s no need for violence.”

Elliott stepped forward and raised his hand. Julian flinched, but Elliott didn’t hit him. Instead, he lightly stroked a finger down Julian’s cheek.

“Calm down. I like this face too much to hurt it.”

“Oh?”

Julian sounded breathless. He wasn’t sure he liked the way his heart started racing. Fear and excitement converged in his chest, warring for dominance.

Elliott’s eyes were so blue and so intense as they focused on him. He’d never felt such scrutiny, even from Cara, who had always been awed by his looks.

“Yeah, I like this mouth too,” he whispered, tracing a finger over Julian’s lips. “How about you use it for something better than lies?”

Julian’s lips parted at the words. Elliott was working his sex appeal like a pro, and despite Julian’s internal turmoil, his body didn’t have the same concerns. His skin prickled with yearning for touch. His lips burned for a kiss.

But Elliott didn’t kiss him.

He moved his hand to the bottom of Julian’s tumbler, and with a smirk, tipped it up to the lips he’d brought to life.

“Drink up.”

Julian sipped obediently. It was either that or bathe his face in liquor. When Elliott lowered the glass, he protested weakly.

“I can’t drink and drive.”

Elliott dropped the sexy act and grinned wide.

“I’m not sure you can drive sober, given past events. But don’t worry. We’ll burn off the alcohol on the dance floor.”

  6. New author and series to me! Thanks for sharing with us all. I always think it’s amazing what authors do, but then self-published authors go above and beyond when there’s not a team behind them. I hope your first GRL is a great experience and that you find lots of new readers!
