Hello, everyone! I m Lex Chase and Lisa was so kind and let me drop by the Novel Approach today! I m here to talk about my new release Urban Fairy Tale, the final book in the Screw-up Princess and Skillful Huntsman Trilogy.
Urban Fairy Tale brings the epic romantic adventure of dude Princess Taylor Hatfield and jackass Huntsman Corentin Deveraux to close. The two have been through a lot together as they fought for the relationship as well as saving Enchants from threats from annihilation.
First thing s first, I hope you enjoy the exclusive artwork I created for the Novel Approach featuring Taylor and Corentin being adorable dorks. I ll have a stack of these printed for GRL 2016 at the Novel Approach table as well as my Author Lounge sessions! Come by to snag one!
Now as for this crazy series, many ask me just where the hell did I get this idea?
Well. There s a story here.
Hold tight.
I have given the Cliff Notes of the story to Divine Magazine, but here goes.
A friend and I were watching The Bachelor yeah. I know and there was a darling contestant named Emily. My friend and I got to gabbing on how she s a prim and proper southern princess with favorite phrases like I declare! and Well, bless your heart!
So we giggled about the idea of southern princess, but make the princess a guy. And then the princess s life should be complete mess. No aspirations. Aimless. And completely unlucky in love.
Taylor Hatfield was born. Taylor s was named after Elizabeth Taylor due to a misquoted fact that she was in Gone with the Wind, which featured Atlanta, Georgia. His eyes are pink, because hers are purple.
But! He needed a love interest! Someone to finally tame the wild child. The firm hand! Ooh lala!
Enter Corentin Deveraux. My favorite of all my alpha males. A huntsman at the end of his rope and whose life is likewise a complete disaster.
He slovenly because he s had no reason to keep things tidy. He is a nasty truck because they can t afford a new one. Apparently his snark is hella charming.
Like all fairy tales, there needed to be a fairy godfather. But a total reject too. So along came Ringo. In my head he looks like an older Jeff Bridges in the Big Lebowski only with proportions of housecat. He was also supposed to cuss like a sailor, smoke, and read pixie Playboys.
But then there need to be a quest! The hero s journey has seven trials. And a fairy tale has three acts. What better modern quest than a road trip? An Americana themed road trip to boot!
I had a fantastic time asking people about the stupidest tourist destinations the locals would be caught dead at. I had amazing answers. But even funnier, I now love, love, love roadside Americana. The sillier, the tackier, the more positively hideous the more I love it.
GRL 2016 is in Kansas City, Missouri this year and the World s Largest Ball of Twine is a three hour drive away. I cannot tell you how much I want to go see it. Sadly, I have been vetoed. Someday!

Is it not the most glorious thing you’ve ever seen? Yes really!
At the end of everything, in this wacky journey, it would have never happened if it wasn t for The Bachelor. And the fateful day Miss Emily, got out of the limo.
So, Miss Emily? Thank you.

Blurb: Modern day fairy-tale princess, Taylor Hatfield, has problems. One, he s a guy. Two, he s an insomniac Sleeping Beauty. Three, his practically perfect brother, Atticus Hatfield, this generation s Snow White, has been irrevocably corrupted by the Witchking. The Library, a clandestine organization, seeks to write The End on Atticus, and Taylor faces the impossible when his own parents endorse his brother s demise. With his true love, the huntsman Corentin Devereaux at his side, they once again set out to find Atticus, but Atticus won t go down without a fight.
The quest ends how it began. But instead of the quirky, corkscrewing Americana road trip, Taylor and Corentin must contend with the dangers of the urban jungle. With an unexpected ally at their side, they re forced to question all they knew about the legacy of Snow White.
As the world of the Enchants and the mundane hang in the balance, Taylor knows what he must do . Go pick an apple.
About the Author:
Lex Chase once heard Stephen King say in a commercial, We re all going to die, I m just trying to make it a little more interesting. Now she s on a mission to make the world a hell of a lot more interesting.
Weaving tales of sweeping cinematic adventure depending on how she feels that day Lex sprinkles in high-speed chases, shower scenes, and more explosions than a Hollywood blockbuster. Her pride is in telling stories of men who kiss as much as they kick ass. If you re going to march into the depths of hell, it better be beside the one you love.
Lex is a pop culture diva, her DVR is constantly backlogged, she has intense emotions about Hannibal’s Hannigram, and she unapologetically loved the ending of Lost. She wouldn t last five minutes without technology in the event of the apocalypse and has nightmares about refusing to leave her cats behind.

Apparently there’s a GIANT BLUEBERRY in Nova Scotia. My husband and I are determined to see it one day. We only go to Canada on cruises so far, and a drive to see the blueberry would be tight for getting back on our ship before it, like, leaves. Being s*** out of luck in Halifax isn’t the worst thing in the world (lovely city and people) but still, inconvenient. So the BLUEBERRY is still on our list.
I am all about a Giant Blueberry! That sounds freaking rad! Man I love such tacky kitsch. LOVE IT.
I have a long travel bucket list but I really want to see the pyramids in Egypt.
Good one Toni! Have you seen the video of the guy who climbed them? Crazy!
I want to scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef and see some great white sharks.
That sounds awesome and terrifying all at once Jen! I’m such a big baby. I live in a beach town yet there are things in the ocean that can KILL you. But I’m sure if you ever put me in the water I’d love every minute of it! I once swam in a cave with fruit bats overhead. I loved it, yet I think to myself “omg what was I thinking!” HAHA!
Everywhere but here… LOL! That’s what happens when you live in a small town. Everywhere else sounds exciting. But the first place in my bucket list is New Zealand. I hope I’ll go there one day! ;)
Hahaha! That sounds like a good one Susana! I’ve traveled a little, not as much as I’d like, but a bit. I’d really like to see Europe someday!
I’ve always wanted to go to Singapore. The culture is just so interesting.
Singapore sounds good! I love watching the Travel Channel and seeing all of the culture and clothes!
Now I’ve got Weird Al’s “The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota” in my head! Anyway, I really want to see the Maritimes in eastern Canada…
