At a Glance: BA Tortuga gives us another great storyline, with the setting mostly in New Orleans. It gives a nice feel to how Laurel and Landon live and to what their beliefs are and how they are different from the Taggarts.

Blurb: Landon knows who he wants, he’s been dreaming about Adam Taggart his whole life. Tag, though? He thinks Landon’s too poor, too young, too wrong to be his.
Landon Gaudet may not be the best bull rider on earth, but he knows that’s where the money is in rodeo. His Cajun heart is more involved with horses, though, and with finding the cowboy he’s been dreaming of all of his relatively short life. Adam Taggart has been around the block more than once, and while he thinks Landon is special, he also thinks the kid deserves better than a safety man with more than his share of notches on the bedpost.
Adam does everything he can to resist Landon, but there’s not a man alive who doesn’t love being loved, so eventually he gives in. Landon can’t believe that Adam is finally with him, that his cowboy has finally come around to his way of thinking. The only problem is that Adam isn’t sure he deserves love, or that he really has any to give. He questions everything from his need for Landon to his family’s assertion that he can do better than a boy from the bayou. Can Landon show Adam that sometimes magic is real, and that all you really need is to have a little faith?

Review: Adam Taggart has been the love ‘em and screw up type of guy throughout the Roughstock series. He’s been with more than a few of the guys who work the rodeo circuit, but those relationships never lasted. Now most of the guys have found their one-and-only, and Adam is still screwing around.
Landon Gaudet isn’t blind to Adam’s reputation. Landon is from New Orleans, and Cajun, and believes in more than just fate. He has always known Adam is his one-and-only, and has let the hoodoo run its course.
Adam is the eldest of Taggart triplets. The Taggart’s are pretty wealthy, and the Gaudet’s live a very different life style from them. Landon and his sister Laurel are twins, and she is the most important person in his life. He’ll do anything for his sister. As Landon puts it, she’s “pure hoodoo, witchy as all get out, but he’d never meet a better traiteur” (treater). Landon is a hard worker; there isn’t anything he won’t do, right down to dealing with gators.
Adam screws up once again. He doesn’t stand up to his brother, Brian, when he accuses Landon of being a liar. But payback is a bitch and comes in the shape of the Little Cajun, and he knocks Adam down a few pegs in front of all the guys. Just what is wrong with Brian? He’s been getting on everyone’s nerves, and his mother has had enough. Adam tries to get Brian to talk, but no luck with that.
But despite all the drama, the guys are still rallying together. Jason’s been doing some blind-riding in the small rodeo events, and winning. Andy and the guys all know sooner or later Jason’s got to take on the task and ride in a big rodeo event before anyone outside of their group becomes suspicious.
I’ve had my favorite cowboys throughout the Roughstock series: Dillon, Sam and now, Landon. BA Tortuga gives us another great storyline, with the setting mostly in New Orleans. It gives a nice feel to how Laurel and Landon live and to what their beliefs are and how they are different from the Taggarts. I can’t wait to find out what the next Roughstock story brings us. BA Tortuga always guarantees lots of rodeo action, drama, humor and a lot of cowboy loving.
