Blurb: A mysterious man has come to Spirit Falls. Does he have something to do with the new diner, or maybe the disappearance of the town’s mayor? Sheriff John Darkman needs to find out the answers to both questions.
Noah Graham is also curious about the mystery man and the new diner. Then he meets the man, Arik Dalca, who offers him a job as a waiter there.
When the mayor reappears and begins to sicken, John and Noah discover the real reason Arik has come to town. Shocked and horrified, they are drawn into what is happening in their town.
In the process of trying to stop the horror, Noah begins to fall for Ewan, one of Arik’s team members, and John is drawn to Arik himself. Can the four men — and the town — survive what is to come?
Review: Noah and Cody, best friends, have always lived in small, touristy Spirit Falls. They’re both in their twenties, have jobs, and sometimes think of leaving their hometown.
Sheriff John Darkman has followed in his father’s footsteps; he’s the youngest sheriff ever in Spirit Falls. With both parents deceased, he lives with his smart and computer savvy grandmother, Constance Darkman. They have a very sweet relationship.
When the Mayor comes up missing, and then returns, it’s clear he’s not doing well. Sheriff Darkman takes an interest in this change that’s come over the Mayor, and starts watching things closely. And, discovers that whatever is going on is not affecting only the mayor.
On several occasions a stranger has been spotted standing on the rocks at the falls. Arik Dalca is new in town—he’s opening up a new diner in the Spirit Falls and has hired some of the locals, but is it more than just a job? Arik has also recruited Noah who, along with John, has something in common with Arik. When Arik reveals what that is, will they agree to join Arik and his team to fight the strange beings lurking in Spirit Falls?
Every so often, Edward Kendrick creates a story that I think would be good as a graphic comic for mature readers—The Diner is one of them. It’s an eerie little story and I think you’ll like it. Have fun with it and get ready to use your imagination.
