Review: WOW! Let me try to be coherent as I review this novel. I’m not promising anything because I am still in a book coma and in denial that it is over for now.

TJ Nichols is a new-to-me author, and I will definitely be looking into acquiring their booklist. I stayed up all night reading this book, and I can’t wait for the next one. It just has to continue because I can’t see Saka and Angus’s story ending here. Please, generous author? Pretty please, may we have more? TJ Nichols has a way with words and the world building is strong. It was like I was almost transported to Vinland and Demonside. I wanted to know more even though the book is ripe with description.

Angus, Saka and the rest of the cast of demons, warlocks and wizards are brought to startlingly clear life in this author’s hands. Vinland has two types of magic users, warlocks, who summon and use demons to control the magic; and wizards, who are considered untrained warlocks that don’t use demons and are unworthy of magic.

Angus is the child of a powerful warlock, and he already has doubts about being a warlock when he is sent off to Warlock College. It is here that he learns the real reasons behind magic, demons and how the world works. Saka is Angus’ demon, but he, too, is also a mage. Blood, sex and soul magic fuel this incredible world and its tale of magical history.

I can’t say enough about the character development and growing done by both Angus and Saka because it will give away the wonder that is this story, but I can say this—it was amazing. I adored the timeline progression and how the relationships evolved. I am looking forward to returning to both Vinland and Demonside just to see what Nichols conjures up next.
