Blurb: John DeWitt loves men and sex. He’s good at his job and enjoys life to the fullest. But his self-confidence is about to take a severe blow. His new intern Lee Pearce looks familiar, but John doesn’t figure out why until one evening when he sees Lee at Throwbacks, talking to the hottest bartender on the planet.
The bartender is Lee’s brother, Wei, who owns the club. John has been lusting after the man for years, but Wei always treats him like a pariah. Unfortunately, John finds out the reason why when he overhears a conversation between the brothers. Wei describes John as a slut and a brainless twit.
John confronts Wei and they end up in a heated argument. But eventually, Wei admits to misjudging John and apologizes, which leads to an admission of attraction and some really hot moves on a dance floor, among other things.
Review: This is book two in the More Than a Suit series. This series centers around a group of men who work for an up and coming company called EnerGen International. John DeWitt started with EnerGen as an intern. He’s worked hard to become part of the permanent payroll and is proud of what he has accomplished there. But hey, he’s young, and frankly in his view everyone needs a hobby. His just happens to be men and sex. If every now and then he would like a cuddle instead of a spit roast, well, he’ll keep that locked inside. This is his life, he is living it the way he wants to, he is in control, and others’ opinions on how he does it rarely matter. That is, until Wei Pearce.
Wei is twelve years older than his little brother, Lee. He’s a serious kind of guy; actually, he’s been accused of being too serious. When Lee gets a job as an intern at EnerGen, and Wei finds out that John is his boss, he has some choice words to say about the matter. And, they aren’t complimentary. Bartending in his establishment has given him a front row seat to the kind of life John lives and frankly, Wei is NOT impressed and doesn’t want his baby brother anywhere near that kind of influence.
More Than a Suit: John is a standalone story, but it being so short, it helps if you have read the first book as all the characters know each other and overlap to a degree. You will get a solid HFN with this story. I enjoy a good enemies to lovers story and that is what this is. These guys have a LOT to work through but lordy when they do… JD Walker is really good at hot and steamy, and this story is no exception, especially since it starts in the middle of a threesome and ends with a blow job. I enjoyed these men, they are opposites in a lot of ways, and as such, balance each other. Both have strong personalities, and that can be hard to convey in such a short story, but Walker does it. This series so far has three installments, covering the lives of Tobie, John and Ross. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a short, explicit erotic read with a certain amount of substance. By the way, if you are looking for a M/M/M book, this isn’t it, as the only ménage happening occurs on the first few pages and that’s it.
