Blurb: The weather in the Florida swamps is looking a little rocky for retired football player, Galen, his laid-back lover, Shane, and their gator, Vic.
When Galen buys into a football team, promoting and wheeling and dealing are the name of the game. He’s so busy he hardly gets to see Shane anymore, which means a lot of lonely naps on the couch.
Shane is tied up with managing the bar, covering for unreliable bartenders, and serving drinks to good-time party boys. Used to be Galen couldn’t get enough of him. Now he can hardly pry Galen away from the phone, and Shane starts to wonder where he stands in Galen’s life. Will things ever be the way they were?
When Galen starts to forget their dates, the pressure builds, jealousy and hurt swirling into a tropical storm. Galen and Shane need to seek shelter in each other before everything they’ve built is washed away.
First Edition published by Torquere Press, 2006.
Review: Galen Frost and Shane Barton are having a great time making a life together in the Florida Keys. Shane still manages the bar, Connection, and finds keeping the books, as well as the responsibility of being there when staff doesn’t show up, a headache.
Galen Frost, retired semipro football player, has gotten involved in a new venture. All he really wanted to do was take care of his bait shop but now, as part owner of a football team, it keeps him on the phone and on the road.
Shane is like a drug Galen cannot live without, and Shane feels the same way about Galen. Shane is an easy-going guy who would never intentionally hurt anyone, and always wants to show his worth to Galen on the home front. When Galen is grouchy or upset, Shane wants to fix him, but he gives Galen his space. As both Galen’s and Shane’s jobs begin to interfere in their life, Galen starts to worry about Shane—Shane’s had some unexpected incidences happen at the bar. Galen is also possessive and is somewhat quick to draw the wrong conclusion, and that could destroy what he has with Shane. But, even when the everyday drudgery interferes in their life, it doesn’t stop their eroticism, passion and love.
When an invitation to Thanksgiving from Galen’s momma arrives, Shane’s nervous, for sure, as he never really celebrated Thanksgiving with his family. For ten years, he hasn’t had any contact with them at all, and it also dredges up some sad memories from the previous year for both Shane and Galen. But it’s different this time around, and as more of Galen’s family show up, Shane realizes this is his family now, too.
Tropical Depression is a steamy sequel to Rain and Whiskey. BA Tortuga delivers the continuing story of Shane and Galen and how they have progressed in their love-forever-relationship. She keeps us on edge, just a wee bit, with some of the tiffs the guys get into. But, the tiffs always lead to an erotic make-up session. Galen’s momma brings such sweetness and wisdom to the story, along with his Aunt and family members. And I certainly have to mention, Victor the gator, who Shane is always concerned about, as well as the new addition, Goober the pup. They both bring lots of humor to the story.
I really like the Stormy Weather series and am hoping for more. I highly recommend reading Rain and Whiskey first because it gives background on Galen and Shane.
