Guest Post and Giveaway: No Pressure by Elle Keaton

We’re so pleased to welcome author Elle Keaton back to TNA today to celebrate the upcoming release of No Pressure, book two in the Accidental Roots series. Elle is here to chat about the book and its main character, and she’s also offering one lucky reader the chance to win an e-copy of the book, so be sure to check out the Rafflecopter instructions below.

Welcome, Elle!

Hello! Elle Keaton here to talk mystery, romance, the weather and celebrate the upcoming release of the second in my Accidental Roots series, No Pressure. Thank you for having me today!

No Pressure was a lot of fun for me to write. Unlike Storm Season, it was less a labor of love, more a cake walk. No Pressure begged to be written, it came very easily. There was not a lot of teeth gnashing, hair pulling, or actual tears—which after Storm Season was a relief.

Something I have learned while writing these is, authors plans don’t always turn out the way they intended. For instance, Buck was never meant to have his own story, much less the second one in the series. When I was plotting next steps in Accidental Roots the concept of No Pressure came to me and I went with it.

Buck is a much more complicated character than I expected. I really hope you love him as much as I do. There are a few other new characters as well, didn’t expect them either but there they are, taking up space in my novel.

Again, the title of No Pressure has a great deal to do with the weather here in the PNW, although, of course it has other intended meanings. If I believed an entire series mired in the unpleasant weather we experience throughout the year would keep people from moving here, I would write even faster (joke)! The truth is, this is a magnificent part of the country, but it wouldn’t be this way if it wasn’t wet and chilly a lot of the year.

No Pressure, is out of my hands and into yours, I hope you enjoy it.

About No Pressure

Joey James has given up on finding his ‘Prince Charming’. There is no such thing, he needs to be realistic about his chances for a lasting relationship. A chance encounter with a former school mate at the local grocery store changes everything-maybe.

Before Joey can decide what to do about it, he is swept into a terrifying scheme. Forced into helping a dangerous stranger in exchange for his family’s safety, Joey begins a perilous journey into the criminal underbelly of Skagit. He will do whatever is needed to protect his family.

Buck Swanfeldt had a secret crush on Joey James in high school. Buck’s social anxiety and two-year age difference made it impossible for him to approach Joey then. Life since high school has been challenging, and lonely. Eight years later, fate brings them together and Buck decides to act. He utterly fails. He would have left it at that, except fate seems to be intent on pushing Joey in his direction, and clearly Joey needs someone at his back.

Dark, sordid secrets hiding in Skagit are bubbling to the surface, danger lurks in unexpected places. Buck has never been anyone’s hero but something about Joey has him throwing caution to the wind. Together the two men take on a dangerous force greater than themselves. But sometimes our worst enemy is ourselves.

About the Author

Author, photographer, rare Pacific Northwest Native, Elle grew up in Seattle, WA., with the Cascade Mountain range to the east and Olympics to the west. Less than two hours northwest lie the majestic San Juan Islands. To the northeast is the Methow Valley and the scrub deserts of Eastern Washington. Geography ripe with material.

A graduate of Western Washington University, Elle has a BS in biology which taught her to be tenacious. The closest she has come to biology since then is having two kids. Like an experiment or something. She’s lived in four states (none of which were gaseous), London England, and Hong Kong; always knows what time it is, and has no problem finding parking even in the most difficult places. Cannot balance a checking account.

Elle’s series Accidental Roots, mostly set in the Skagit Valley of Western Washington, will make its debut spring of 2017. Storm Season is tender, sometimes irreverent, full of nosy neighbors and help when the hero didn’t think he needed it. Writing has always been a passion but not something she was able to take seriously until recently. Now her head is full of ideas and not enough time in each day.

  1. One of my favorite romantic suspense couples are Deacon and Lang from Fish Stick Fridays by Rhys Ford.
Besides suspense romance I love friends to lovers and May/December.
Two of my favorite side kicks are Aunt Tilly of the Made Marian Series by Lucy Lennos and Nana of the First and Forever series by Alexa Land.

    1. AH, Deacon and Lang — I resisted reading FSF for far too long. I also love May/December! It gives my silly heart hope <3. I keep seeing the Made Marian series and haven't picked it up yet–I think I need to. Meddling side-kicks are the best if they are well done and Nana takes the cake. Sometimes I enjoy the side characters more than the mains. How do you feel when side characters get their own story? Does it bother you or make you want to read more????

    1. Bobby is one of my favorites too, I love that he finally got his story and that he is a bad-ass my age person! I really wish there were more older romances (not just May-December)–I am reading BonFires right now and it is really good!

  5. Tim Dirus and Nathaniel Neri from Beings in Love series by R. Cooper. I tend to read shifter and contemporary books when I’m not reading suspense. I love all the characters from Charlie Cochet’s THIRD series.
