The Summer Stock Popcorn Bucket List
The Sci-fi musts:
Galaxy Quest
Serenity
Starship Troopers
Ryan’s biggest role to date at the beginning of the summer is a secondary role on a sci-fi TV series that has been cancelled. While the TV show is never described in detail, I like to think of it as a mashup of Galaxy Quest, Starship Troopers, and Firefly. Also, Hollywood, please make this a thing?
The Classics:
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
An American in Paris
Jules et Jim
If Ryan and his besties each picked a movie for a classic movie night at West’s house, this would be the lineup: Ali’s favorite is Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Ryan has a crush on Gene Kelly, and West totally geeks out over the bug scene in Jules et Jim. Trey would probably be down at the bar watching a basketball game—to each their own.
The Shakespeare adaptations:
Much Ado About Nothing (the Branagh one)
Julius Caesar (the Brando one)
The two plays performed in Summer Stock have both been adapted to the big screen multiple times, but these are my favorites. The Branagh adaptation of Much Ado features some of the best comic acting I’ve ever seen in Michael Keaton’s Dogberry, and who doesn’t get chills when watching Brando deliver Antony’s Friends, Romans, Countrymen speech?
I could probably do another whole list of these for television shows, but I think I’ll stop here—I’d love to hear from you in the comments about your favorite movies. Do you have a popcorn bucket list?

About the Book
Tabloid scandals have driven TV star Ryan Hertzog to North Carolina’s Outer Banks, where he’s hiding out doing summer stock at his cousin’s seaside theater. When a hookup with local handyman Trey Donovan results in Ryan being photographed butt naked, he vows to keep his pants on and his hands off Trey. How was he supposed to know Trey would turn out to be the summer stock set builder?
Trey isn’t looking for a relationship; he’s still recovering from the emotional fallout of an abusive marriage. But Ryan’s laughter draws him in again and again, and he’s not about to say no to fooling around.
As the summer heats up, the paparazzi catch Ryan in increasingly compromising situations. Ryan might be too much drama for a summer fling—and Trey might be just an intermission from Ryan’s Hollywood life. But if they take their cues from Shakespeare, all’s well that ends well.

About the Author
Author of over a dozen novels, novellas, and short stories, Vanessa North delights in giving happy-ever-afters to characters who don’t think they deserve them. Relentless curiosity led her to take up knitting and run a few marathons “just to see if she could.” She started writing for the same reason. Her very patient husband pretends not to notice when her hobbies take over the house. Living and writing in Northwest Georgia, she finds her attempts to keep a quiet home are frequently thwarted by twin boy-children and a very, very large dog.

My popcorn bucketlist movies are basically musicals: The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Dirty Dancing, Grease. I can go on and on.

I was definitely considering a comedy section! I find those so hard to narrow down–but I particularly love good satire and a truly romantic romcom…

Congratulations on the new release! I am a huge fan, and cannot wait to read this fantastic story. Thanks for sharing the fun movie bucket list.
Hmmm…so hard for me to decide on my favorites, but my list would include “La Femme Nikita,” “The Professional,” “Le Grand Bleu,” “The Fifth Element,” (guess I’d be on a Luc Besson kick) “Kill Bill,” “The Heroic Trio” (love Michelle Yeoh!) and “The Quick and the Dead,” (I’m thinking a ‘girls with guns’ theme).
Thanks for a chance to win!

An upside of following authors on Twitter is that you get insights into the book writing process early on. The downside is that you find out about books early on and it feels like you’ve been waiting FOREVER when they finally come out! Can’t wait to read this

XANADU (flawed as hell, of course, but that roller disco sequence at the end transfixes me each time), INFERNAL AFFAIRS (and maybe CHUNGKING EXPRESS while you’re at it–Tony Leung Chiu-Wai forever)! I know
I’m forgetting a few…

I recently bought Pitch Perfect on Amazon, thinking it would be fun to watch with my kids… but I had seriously forgotten a lot of the content wasn’t appropriate! Oops! At least I watched it myself before watching with them. Maybe in a few more years…

I love the Princess Bride–it’s so silly and fun. I remember when I was training for a marathon years ago, reading the book was the only way I could sit still in an ice bath after a long run–so I now associate that story with sitting in ice!

Oh, I could pick and choose just from the lists that everyone else has added. When Harry Met Sally is one that I could watch over and over again. My favorite musical of the moment is Rent – the music from that one features HIGH on all of my playlists.
As for Summer Stock? I loved it! I’m on the tour too – but I couldn’t resist sneaking a peek at everyone else’s post for the tour – plus that swag bag is awesome (thanks Vanessa!) Enjoy the rest of the tour and good luck!

It was one of the movies I used to watch as a kid when my grandma introduced it to me. And I’m beating myself up for missing this tour. I was really looking forward to your works since I’ve read Blueberry Boys. ^_^
