Hello, Internet! Welcome back to the Art of Lex Chase. I’m your one and only host, Lex! Every month here at The Novel Approach, I share a new art piece by yours truly. Not only am I an author, but I’m also a digital artist. So, if you’re looking for custom art for swag, covers, posters, blog tours, and all those goodies, hit me up!
Last month’s piece had a bit of a snafu when this beautiful site crashed on the day of posting. Oops! But never fear, you can see it here. Last month’s was a piece for Tali Spencer’s Breaking the Ice, her States of Love story featuring ice fishermen. There was also a second special treat of one of my personal boys, Muir from my personal project called Grow. If you like your men sexy with a side of nasty, he’s the guy for you. Check it out over here!
So, this month’s piece is another recently finished commission for author Kim Fielding. Her request was for a cover for her story The Clockwork Heart. It’s a freebie story that she plans to offer soon! Her parameters was she had a stock photo neither of us cared for, she had a budget, and said “Make it not suck.” I had done plenty of postcards (which are cover-ish) but never a cover-cover. And this was a fun one with playing with new techniques and tools. I love the painterly look and how it came out!
And new things! Omg! New, new exciting things! For those of you who follow my shenanigans on Istagram full of cat pictures, my fountain pens, and other trash, I’ve started an all new art only Instagram account. It’s waaaaay super new. But if you want to get a peek at the things I do, follow me over there at: https://instagram.com/lexchaseart
About the Author/Artist
Pop culture, comics, anime, and…cannibals?
These are a just a few things that go through Lex Chase’s head at any given moment. As an author, she specializes in stories of action, adventure, and broken yet true love. As an artist, she makes no apologies for drawing Hannibal’s Hannigram all the time.
Writing about boys who put the “massively fun” in massively dysfunctional, and drawing characters with questionable morals—or the precious cinnamon roll with questionable morals—gives her great pleasure. Lex knows everyone has a vice, and she’s willing to put stylus to tablet for yours.
