Guest Post and Giveaway: Off Stage: Beyond the Footlights by Jaime Samms

We’re so pleased to have author Jaime Samms joining us today on the tour for her newest release from Dreamspinner Press, Off Stage: Beyond the Footlights. She’s stopped in to chat a bit about the end of the Off Stage series, and she’s also brought along a really special giveaway, so be sure to check out the details about that below.

Welcome, Jaime!

Thanks Lisa, for having me on The Novel Approach. It’s so nice to have a chance to talk about his book. As the last book in the series, it’s a little sad and a little sweet to let it go.

These guys have been with me a long time. On the other hand, it’s great to see them all get their happy endings, and watch the band get back together. I’m a big fan of setting my boys on the road to happy, and trusting they make their way down it to where their dreams come true. With these books, that wasn’t just about finding the loves of their lives, but also about putting bands—and families—back together.

This cast has been a heavy one, with Big Issues. It’s good to see them headed on with lighter loads. Life never carries guarantees, but that’s the beauty of being an author and having the power to create a world where it’s possible to have everything your characters ever wanted: love, fame, family and really pretty horses.

About the Book

Kilmer and Jacko’s relationship has been foundering for a long time. With the end in sight and despairing that he might never find a Dom who suits him, Kilmer heads to a local bar to drown his sorrows—and meets country singer Tanner.

Tanner feels oddly protective of the broken man and eventually convinces Kilmer to hire him to help remodel the small, sad house Kilmer once shared with Jacko. As Tanner and Kilmer get to know each other, Kilmer regains his lost independence and Tanner’s dominant streak rises to the surface. But will it be a help or a hindrance to the trust they’re trying to build?

The answer might lie in the music Kilmer gave up not long after he met Jacko. Music always granted him solace, clarity, and an outlet for his emotions, and with Tanner’s encouragement, he picks up where he left off. Playing together eases them into honest communication, and though a happily ever after will still take patience and work, taking a chance on each other sounds sweeter with every note.

About the Author

Jaime has been writing for various publishers since the fall of 2008, although she’s been writing for herself far longer. Often asked why men—what’s so fascinating about writing stories about men falling in love—she’s never come up with a clear answer. Just that these are the stories that she loves to read, so it seemed to make sense if she was going to write, they would also be the stories she wrote.

These days, you can find plenty of free reading on her website. She also writes for Various Publishers.

Spare time, when it can be found rolled into a ball at the back of the dryer or cavorting with the dust bunnies in the corners, is spent crocheting, drawing, gardening (weather permitting, of course, since she is Canadian!), or watching movies. She has a day job, as well, which she loves, and two kids, but thankfully, also a wonderful husband who shoulders more than his fair share of household and child-care responsibilities.

She graduated some time ago from college with a fine arts diploma, and a major in textile arts, which basically qualifies her to draw pictures and create things with string and fabric. One always needs an official slip of paper to fall back on after all . . .

Where would you go and who would you listen to?

  1. Congratulations on the release, Jaime. To answer your question, I would love to go to Dublin to watch U2, provide there was a concert there. Why? Because I love the band and the city, and when I was studying there at UCD, there was a wonderful free concert at Phoenix park… A magic experience I would love to repeat

    1. I remember listening to U2 during a band trip to Ottawa. Imagine my surprise when my teenager made me listen to this “great new band I found!!!” lol!

  2. I would love to go to Iceland and see Sigur Rós! They often perform in the mountains to smaller groups of people or in small venues around their homeland. Also amazing to see them when they come stateside.

  3. To be honest I don’t like to go to concert in any kind because I am not very good with too many people at one place. But if I have to really choose, I’d love to see Coldplay playing in London.

  4. I would love to go back in time to 2009 when Perfume Genius was recording their first album. Many of the tracks for the first album were recorded in lead singer, Mike Hadreas’s, home. It would have been so exciting to see the band at the beginning of their amazing journey. Plus, I love watching Mike perform with his bandmate and partner, Alan Wyffels. They have the most romantic love story and are absolutely adorable together.
