Guest Post: The Art of Lex Chase

Hello, Internet! Welcome back to the Art of Lex Chase. I’m your one and only host, Lex! Every month here at TNA, Lisa lets me drop by showing off a new piece I’ve whipped up. For the majority of July, I was on vacation visiting a friend. I’ve only been back since Sunday and I have since been informed one of her cats is going room to room crying for me. But on vacation, I created a new piece. Yay!

Since we skipped June, May’s piece was a stunning cover for Kim Fielding’s The Clockwork Heart, which you can see and read all about my process here!

This month’s piece, I revisited Tali Spencer’s ice fishermen from her novella Breaking the Ice. When Tali had commissioned me for her boys, as she described them, the first thing that came to my mind was an adorable piggyback ride type image. She let me run with it. While on vacation, I worked it out while my BFF binged on playing Final Fantasy XII. (Guys. Balthier. Just hay Daddy!)

And new things keep rolling!  For those of you who follow my shenanigans on Instagram full of cat pictures, my fountain pens, and other trash, I also have an all new art only Instagram account. It’s still super new, but growing. But if you want to get a peek at the things I do, follow me over there at: https://instagram.com/lexchaseart

About Lex

Pop culture, comics, anime, and…cannibals?

These are a just a few things that go through Lex Chase’s head at any given moment. As an author, she specializes in stories of action, adventure, and broken yet true love. As an artist, she makes no apologies for drawing Hannibal’s Hannigram all the time.

Writing about boys who put the “massively fun” in massively dysfunctional, and drawing characters with questionable morals—or the precious cinnamon roll with questionable morals—gives her great pleasure. Lex knows everyone has a vice, and she’s willing to put stylus to tablet for yours.
