Blurb: Kelly must rescue his fiance Nathan when he is kidnapped by the wife of a drug lord out to exact revenge for Kelly accidentally killing her son during a drug bust.
An old FBI case of Kelly’s returns with a vengeance. The traumatic case that nearly ended his life left him with both physical and deep emotional scars. Kelly needs to finally conquer his inner demons when Nathan, his fiance, is kidnapped by the wife of a drug lord and used as bait to bring Kelly to her.
With little time left, Kelly must assemble a highly-specialized team to rescue the love of his life from a drug lord’s compound in the remote jungles of Columbia. Nathan’s life hangs in the balance as the mother of a murdered child fulfills her plans to exact revenge upon Kelly for accidentally killing her son during the drug bust a year ago.
Unexpected treachery and betrayal follow them until not only their lives but the lives of their entire family are threatened.
Review: Doctor Nathan Kirkfield and FBI agent Kelly MacNeil are in the midst of the wedding chaos being created by their mothers. Both Kelly and Nathan have some things to finalize, one regarding Nathan’s condo. Kelly has a bad feeling about Nathan going there alone but tries to put it out of his head. Then he gets a call from Brendan, Nathan’s cousin, stating Nathan’s been kidnapped.
The haunting of a past drug bust gone wrong has Kelly determined to get Nathan back and give the kidnappers what they really want. Kelly calls in his old team, which brings a mix of interesting characters: Moose, in charge of communication and electrical; Frodo, the sniper; Manny, a weapons expert; G, the logistics tactician; and Stephen Bakerson, their unit commander. Kelly is shocked when Brendan comes through with flying colors to help in any way he can in getting Nathan back, but Brendan wants one thing in return—to go to Columbia to help get his cousin back.
Amidst the danger of Nathan being held captive, he meets Luis, Jesus and Maria, and he knows in his heart that no matter what happens, he can’t leave them behind. And, he hopes that it won’t end his and Kelly’s relationship.
Terry Poole offers readers a tension filled and action packed sequel to Web of Secrets, which I would recommend reading first, as it gives you background on Kelly, Nathan and the family connection to Brendan. Secrets are brought to the forefront, and betrayals are revealed. Kelly also still has a mystical connection with his Granda that’s not overdone. Nathan and Kelly’s relationship is still going strong, and Brendan’s character was a solid force in this story. Terry Poole also brings in some new characters who offered up some humor and interesting outcomes to the storyline.
