We’re so pleased to have author Amy Aislin joining us today on the Picture Winter virtual blog tour. Amy’s giving us a little peek inside her characters’ heads today, and she’s also giving away an e-book from her backlist so be sure to check out the entry details below.
Welcome, Amy!
Thank you for hosting me today on my blog tour for my newest novella, Picture Winter!
I thought it’d be fun to dive in to the main characters’ heads. Picture Winter features Ty, a garbage man, and Elias, a successful businessman on his way to becoming the Vice President of the company he works for. Both are Capricorns, but they have nothing in common. Or so they think.
Read on for Part 1 of a character interview. You’ll find Part 2 on one of my later blog tour stops.
Interviewer: How did you guys meet?
[Elias and Ty blink at each other]
Ty: Um…that would give away the entire first chapter. You’ll have to read the book.
Elias: Let’s just say it had to do with misplaced recyclables.
Ty: [snorts] ‘Misplaced.’ Sounds like you lost them, when really you just weren’t paying attention.
Elias: [nods] I do that.
Interviewer: All right then. Let’s test your knowledge of each other. Ty, what’s Elias’s biggest pet peeve?
Ty: When people stop right in the middle of the sidewalk.
Elias: [crosses his arms and slumps in his seat] I mean, move the fuck over. There are other people who need to use the sidewalk.
[Ty cracks up]
Interviewer: Elias, what’s Ty’s biggest pet peeve.
Elias: [smirks] When he’s watching something on TV and a trailer for a horror movie comes on.
Ty: [points at Elias] I did not sign up for that shit! Here I am watching some innocuous car commercial and then boom! Creepy doll-baby-ghost thing. [whisper-shouts at interviewer] Doll-baby-ghost things are terrifying.
Interviewer: It’s Saturday at noon. Elias, what’s Ty doing?
Elias: Napping on the couch.
Ty: Hey! I do…stuff.
[Elias raises an eyebrow]
Ty: Last Saturday I was…grocery shopping?
Elias: I did that in the morning, before you woke up.
Ty: [triumphant] I cleaned!
Elias: You sprayed Fantastic in the bathtub, turned the shower on, and called it done.
Ty: That counts.
Elias: You didn’t even scrub.
Ty: Still counts.
Elias: Except it doesn’t.
Interviewer: Okay, moving on…
Catch Part 2 on one of my later blog tour stops!

Length: 47,000 words approx.
Blurb: Do something new today.
Why he looks at his horoscope every day, Elias Hood doesn’t know. It’s all garbage, and no nickel fortune ever helped him climb all the way up the corporate ladder. He’s about to make Vice President. Rocking the boat with “something new” is the last thing on his mind.
But there’s this guy.
Ty Green can make friends with a tree and Elias can’t help falling for his easy-going vibe and his perfect smile. He’s a fellow Capricorn, like Elias, but that’s as far as their similarities go. Ty works to live–he doesn’t live to work. When Elias takes his horoscope’s advice and asks Ty out, both men are in for a shock. But as Elias’s walls start to come down, they might just realize that they have more in common than they think. In fact, they might even want the exact same thing.
Who knows? Maybe horoscopes aren’t just trash after all.
