Blurb: THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fiancé, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party—which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends.
Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing—and even a bear costume—will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun.
Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not essential to read before Tried & True.
Review: So, Gummy Bears & Grenades … The first part of the title is very much expected; this is Dex’s bachelor party after all. As for the second, the reason of it is the same: this is Dex’s bachelor party!
In the course of a single night, Dex and his friends got in trouble so many times that they must have set some kind of a record. Sloane was so justified in his worry about how the whole thing would turn out, and what new hell Dex was going to end up either raising or just getting mixed in. And Dex, being Dex, he ended up doing both!
We see a lot of characters here, and I was lost with some of them, but it didn’t bother me very much. Dex was the focus of the attention, and you can’t mix him up with anyone. I liked how we see little things from Dex’s character slipping into Sloane’s too. He is more goofy and relaxed. He’s joking more and is doing silly stuff. He is still the more grounded and serious of the two, but he allows himself to relax from time to time and act a little like Dex. I think that’s a side-effect of their mating as well as their closeness as a couple.
There is a little tease from Tied & True at the end that I had fun reading before moving on to the real deal. So far, I’ve skipped the other couples’ stories, but I’m sticking with Dex and Sloane, and I’m following them to their TIN adventures.
This short story can’t be read as a standalone. Recommended for fans of the series.
