This is a stand-alone novel set in the Moments in Time world. You do not need to have listened to the other books in the series prior to listening to this book.
Review: Bryan Dane seems to have it all figured out. He has a job. He’s nearly finished with his college career, his band is moving in a positive direction, and he has just about completed a year of celibacy after one too many failed relationships. And then, he meets Oliver. Oliver is sweet, funny, getting out of his marriage of convenience, battling the closet, his small town teaching job, and the need to explore a sexuality he is finally admitting.
From the minute the two men meet they have a hard tie denying an obvious attraction. Oliver asks Bryan to help him find his way around the gay scene in New York City. Bryan does so, grudgingly, while fighting his growing feelings for Oliver. The story does an amazing job of telling the ups and downs of a new relationship—that both men are fighting—until they forget why they are fighting it. True love never runs smooth, and Oliver and Bryan hit more than a few bumps in the road.
P. C., as narrator, took some time to get into the characters. The first chapter seems a bit rushed, but it smooths out pretty quickly. The character voices here are more reading than performance. This is a change in narrator for this series, and while it is a standalone novel, listeners may miss the former narrator’s skill with this world. But, the story is good and well told by the author. Buy the book to complete the set and see still another side of Stivali’s world, which captures another facet of relationships between men as they begin to blossom and take root.
