Cheers, everyone, and welcome to a quick preview of what we have coming up for you in the week ahead!
We’ve survived a rocky week in this community, to say the least, and though we may be a bit bruised and battered right now, we are far from broken. While my decision to remove all reviews and promotional posts associated with the pen name Santino Hassell was immediate, the complication of what to do with the Riptide Publishing situation wasn’t so cut and dried. There are authors who are reeling and unsure of what to do with respect to the fact that they rely on royalties to help pay bills; many are processing how to proceed after reclaiming their rights and are now trying to get their work back out to readers in an effort to minimize the financial impact. So while I remain passionately offended by what we all learned this week, I also am committed to serve those authors until they’re able to get their feet under them again.
I remain emphatic in my commitment to be an amplifier in this community: for own-voices, for authors of color, and for authors who respect the imperative to present diverse characters and to do so with authenticity. Not to speak louder than those voices but to stand behind them, to be their megaphone, and to be a better advocate in my role here.
With that said, we’ve got a full week of fresh and fun new content to share with you, including some great guests and giveaways and, of course, more reviews, so be sure to stay tuned.

It was indeed a rocky week, it made me feel sad, i was disappointed and furious on behalve of all the victims. Now i’m definitely looking forward to the upcoming week on TNA so i can hopefully focus on reading again :)
Hugely disappointing, Angela, I agree. I just wanted to shout, “Come on, we’re so much better than this!!!”, but if there’s anything good that’s come from it, it’s that now there’s a call to action to lift up People of Color and offer a platform to celebrate and promote diversity in all its forms. <3
So true, Lisa
