Blurb: Why are there no gay characters in fairy tales…? You ought to know that Snow White’s Huntsman and Little Red Riding Hood’s Woodsman not only share a dangerous forest as a workplace…they share a bower of bliss.
KINDLY WOODSMEN is a sex-positive gay graphic novel that reimagines two fairy tale supporting characters as an outdoorsy couple who can’t get enough of each other!
Review: Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, there lived a Huntsman clad all in finely fitted green. The huntsman was strong and virile, and he wielded a longbow and arrow with great skill. He provided for the sweet “princess” who lived in a castle on a hill. In that same kingdom, in the forest, lived a Kindly Woodsman who spent his days tending to trees and chopping wood and providing much needed timber for those too weak to provide it for themselves. Both men were well liked and cherished for their good deeds. At the end of the day, the Huntsman and the Kindly Woodsman return to an idyllic cabin deep in the forest, where they do kindly deeds for one another … all night long.
This sweet story is turned on its ear as the two sexy men strip off, prepare a mutual hot bath to share, and wash off the rigors of the day. Naturally, washing turns to touching, touching to pleasure, and pleasure into an exquisite expression of wild, joyful lovemaking that is tender, energetic, and intense. No good bath is worth its suds unless every nook, cranny, and crevice you can find on a man is cleaned well—and in slow detail.
Once again, Dale Lazarov as scripter and art director takes the talents of artist Sebas Martin and exploits them to the hilt. Though the novel is once again wordless, the panels speak volumes, whether in establishing the action or driving home the wild and beautiful act of lovemaking. Drawn in the style of a Little Golden Book fairytale, the style helps tell the story. It remains pure and innocent in its direct telling of the love two men can share when it is not forced or done in secret. Here, the panels give us positive gay sex with no worry or recriminations. These men simply are as they were meant to be, free in expressing their mutual love and joy of one another’s bodies.
Dale Lazarov is a bestselling author of gay graphic novels because the stories he tells do not shy away from sex and joy. Characters smile, they laugh, they pleasure one another without anger or shame. This graphic novel would be a welcome addition to any romance collection. The digital edition is in true vivid color, the simplicity of lines allows the action to be seen and appreciated. Pick up a copy for yourself and be prepared to be reminded of how wonderful two men making love to one another can be.
