Blurb: HBO’s Emmy-winning Last Week Tonight with John Oliver presents a picture book about a Very Special boy bunny who falls in love with another boy bunny.
Meet Marlon Bundo, a lonely bunny who lives with his Grampa, Mike Pence – the Vice President of the United States. But on this Very Special Day, Marlon’s life is about to change forever…
With its message of tolerance and advocacy, this charming children’s book explores issues of same sex marriage and democracy. Sweet, funny, and beautifully illustrated, this book is dedicated to every bunny who has ever felt different.
100% of Last Week Tonight‘s proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United.
Review: I’m going to keep this short, sweet and to the point: buy this book. Buy it for yourself, buy it for a little one, buy it because it was inspired by the release of Mike Pence’s children’s book. Whatever. Just buy it, because all the proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to The Trevor Project and AIDS United, and I love that John Oliver has found a way to be angry and loving and generous all at the same time.
Having purchased A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo in every format available, I listened to the narration while following the story on my Kindle, and it is precious. The illustrations are adorable and the all-star cast of actors bring this affirming and heart-warming story to life. The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons portrays Marlon Bundo, our ‘very, very fun boy bunny’ who is the BOTUS (Bunny of the United States). Marlon is on a carefree garden adventure, hop-hop-hopping along, when he spies another boy bunny who makes Marlon want to jump for joy! Wesley is voiced by actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, of Modern Family fame, and as the bunnies join together to continue their adventures, they are joined by a host of other animals, including a horrible stink bug whose blustering vocals are supplied by the multi-talented John Lithgow in all his blustery glory.
This uplifting little tale does nothing more than celebrate love and diversity. It shows us that there is so much good in the world and so much promise for the future, and it does so in a way that empowers its characters and reminds us that WE, THE PEOPLE, have a voice that can foster progress through a spirit of friendship and unity.

He wasn’t even done with the show and I had it ordered. Fun fact: I LOVE bunny books…. I can’t wait to get this one in the mail. (I have to mention I especially loved our very own Catherine Dair’s book for the Pride Bunnies Pip & Skip: http://www.skipandpip.com) Great review! Many hugs, Z.
