Welcome, C.S.!
Hello, everyone! I’m C.S. Poe, and you may know me as the author of gay mystery, romance, and paranormal books, such as Southernmost Murder, Joy, and the Snow & Winter series. I’m super excited to be at The Novel Approach today, kicking off the mini blog tour for the audiobook of my first full-length, contemporary romance novel, Color of You, narrated by the ever incredible and supremely talented, Greg Tremblay.
Color of You is a small town romance. Our hero, Bowen Merlin, is a recent transplant to Lancaster, New Hampshire, from New York City. He’s the regional high school’s new band director. Bowen meets Alan Hansen, a promising fifteen-year-old clarinetist, and through Alan, Felix, his single father and the love interest for the story.
I really like Alan. He’s such an integral part of the story, a necessary character that not only pushes Bowen and his father, Felix, to grow as humans, but in return he needs the nurturing of both men in order to become a more confident teen. His presence helped create a very loving, tightknit family vibe, and I decided, what better way to promo the new audiobook than to write some online journal entries from Alan’s point of view? I’d say these are pretty spoiler-free, they take place before the story and just after the start of it. If you’re new to Color of You, I hope you’ll be intrigued to pick up a copy!

So today started off real fun. When I woke up we had no water. I found Dad in the basement thawing the pipes with a hair dryer. It dropped below negative thirty last night and the pipes ended up frozen solid. He said the contractors hadn’t properly insulated them. That and this winter has been stupid cold. Great combo.
I had to take the bus to school and Dad spent the entire day fixing shit in the basement.
On the plus side, I heard Mr. Kelly teacher-gossiping in the halls, and it sounds like we may actually be getting a new band teacher next week. I’m really excited, considering I signed up for band because I wanted to be in… band. Not a second study hall. What a concept, right?
I’m gonna go see if Dad needs any help with dinner.

I hit level 20 with my dark elf in Dragon Chaos! I got on the leaderboard for the first time and held my rank for over an hour, which is pretty cool. Our server is packed, so that was a lot of competition.
Anyway, Athene was awarded a white tiger steed, so now I can travel between towns at twice the speed. Just in time too. I was looking at some online guides this morning, and it looks like the amount of open terrain between Cloudous and River Wrong would be like three days of travel.
And I’m totally not awake enough to do raids on the next dungeon, but Dad needs my help tomorrow morning at the orchard, so might as well get my playing in now.

Dad’s so into that new Amateur Chef show. He’s making me addicted to it. I hope Bianca wins. She’s not the best cook, that’s probably Kim. But Bianca has awesome tats.

About the Book
Bowen Merlin—yes, that’s his real name—accepts a position in the quaint town of Lancaster, New Hampshire, as the high school band director. He leaves New York City for the snowy countryside of New England just in time for the holidays. With class, homework, after-school activities, and a surprise Christmas concert to plan and rehearse, Bowen is plenty busy. And since he’s never had much luck with romance, factoring in time to find Mr. Right isn’t a priority….
Until he meets the proprietor of Snowy Ridge Apple Orchard, Felix Hansen. Suddenly, true love seems like a possibility for the first time in Bowen’s life. The two are a perfect match and fill the skipped beats of each other’s hearts. But as wonderful as Felix seems, he’s harboring scars that could end their budding relationship when someone in town goes to great lengths to sabotage their careers.
If Bowen is to survive the holidays, he’ll need to lean on old friends and new, convince Felix he’s worth any hardship, and prove they can come out of the catastrophe stronger if they do so together.
