Lisa: We’re so pleased to welcome author Lynn Michaels to TNA today on the tour for her latest release, Time for Love. Thanks so much for dropping by today, Lynn!
Let’s start the interview with a question about the book itself: what’s your favorite scene in the book, and what makes it a fave?
Lynn: There is a scene where the two main characters, Jeremy and Ollie, are at the beach playing around. They wrestle and splash each other. That’s a call back to my childhood. I grew up at the beach, and playing in the water is one of my favorite things, so getting these two there was a blast!
Lisa: Sounds like a great beach read 😊 If you could spend some real-life time with one of the characters in the book, who would you choose and why?
Lynn: Jeremy from Time for Love. He’s a philosopher and a Taoist, so I’d like to talk philosophy with him, discuss world views, and see what he has to say about the world.
Lisa: On the flipside, which character would you probably least get along with? Why?
Lynn: Nick, Star, and Dano – they’re the “bad guys” and they’re assholes. I’d have to tell them they’re assholes. Can I say assholes? You can delete that if you want! ~wink~
Lisa: Have you ever written a line, paragraph, or passage, and thought, “Darn, that’s pretty amazing, even if I do say so myself”? What was it?
Lynn: Yes. There are a few here and there. Maybe the most recent one is from Time for Love from Jeremy’s Journal: “It’s so hard to get a grip on life sometimes, especially when others are hostile toward us, interrupting our peace. I think our struggle as humans is in learning to let that shit go.”
Lisa: That’s perfect and so true!
Let’s talk tropes: do you have a few favorites that you enjoy both writing and reading? If so, what are they and what makes them your faves?
Lynn: This is like a cheat question. I love reading – I love everything. I would read just about any MM book. Probably the one thing I don’t care for is MF Contemporary Romance, but… I’ve read that too. Recently. Like now. Okay – I’m reading one now, but it’s a spin off from an MM series and the next book is also MM. That makes it okay. Right?
Lisa: If you could choose one of your books to be adapted for the silver screen, which would you choose? Why do you think it would translate well to film?
Lynn: Holeshot. The characters are adorable and there’s plenty of action. That’s what makes a good movie, things happening. There’s a lot of things happening in Holeshot. And dirt bikes – because dirt bikes!
Lisa: What’s the one book you’ve read in your lifetime that you wish you’d written? Why did this particular book leave such a lasting impact on you?
Lynn: The Garden of Eden by Hemingway. It was published posthumously, and I read it when I was in high school before I understood anything about LGBT and gender fluidity. Hemingway played with that in this book in an intriguing way. It made an impression on me. Also, it was a new ideal for what being an adult could be like. As a teen about to graduate from high school it opened my eyes to the fact that we could be OTHER things than what was presented to us. Plus, it was a true work of art.
Lisa: If you won the lottery, what’s the first completely self-indulgent thing you’d do?
Lynn: Easy… quit my day job! I’d want to write full time. After that, I’d buy an RV so we could travel all over the US – and obviously write.
Lisa: Let’s pretend you’re taking a road trip, and you can choose any three of your characters to go with you. First, who would you want on the ride-along, and why them?
Lynn: Only three – ahh… that’s tough. Davey and Tyler from Holeshot and Jeremy from Time for Love. That’d be a blast.
Lisa: Second, who would be most likely to:
Have to hit every rest stop bathroom:
Lynn: Davey.
Whine about how long it’s taking to get where you’re going:
Lynn: Tyler and he’d probably pester Davey until he drove the man nuts, which is why Davey would want to hit every rest stop.
Break wind with the windows rolled up:
Lynn: Also Tyler. He can be a real joker.
Flip incessantly through songs on their music app:
Lynn: Jeremy from Time for Love – he’s the singer, and he would be wanting to play the ones he knows and loves best.
Lisa: If you had to choose between becoming a superhero or supervillain, which would you choose and why?
Lynn: I’d be a Superhero – always use your powers for good. I’d rather write the bad guy, though. That’s more fun.
Lisa: What would your superpower be?
Lynn: Telekenisis. I’ve wanted that ever since I watched the Witch Mountain movies as a kid…
Lisa: If James Corden invited you to Carpool Karaoke, what song(s) would you sing with him?
Lynn: Journey and 80s songs, but then he’d kick me to the curb. I can NOT sing, but I love singing.
Lisa: If you could be any animal in the world, what would you choose? Why?
Lynn: Unicorn.. duh… fabulous! OR a T-Rex.
Lisa: If you were to sit down and write your autobiography today, what would the title be?
Lynn: What Was She Thinking?
Lisa: Star Trek, Star Wars, both or neither? Explain.
Lynn: BOTH. I love Sci-fi… love, love, love…
Lisa: Fantastic answer! Thanks again for being here with us today, Lynn, it’s been a pleasure.

Ollie Mendosa is only interested in one thing, the new police app he’s developing. That is until he meets a victim of crime, surfer-boy, Jeremy Ringer. When his protective nature is brought out in full force, he can’t resist the temptation of a summer fling.
Is it possible for these two men, from such different worlds, to overcome their differences and fears in order to find the love they both desire?
Tour Excerpt
Ollie couldn’t stop thinking about their witness, Jeremy. The guy was too cute and entirely too laid back. “What do you think about Jeremy’s case?” he asked Walker as they walked into the precinct.
“Never going to find his car. You shouldn’t have given him false hope.”
“Yeah, I couldn’t help it.” He stuffed his phone in his pocket.
Walker stopped and looked at him, grabbing his shoulder. “What? You do like the guy? I mean like-like?”
“He’s cute.” Ollie shrugged. He wanted to play like he was calm and laid back like Jeremy, but he wasn’t. Not at all. The old saying about butterflies in the stomach seemed more like a fact than a literary description.
“I was teasing, but… Seriously, ask him out.”
Ollie huffed. “You know I can’t. At least not until we close his part of this bullshit.”
“Nah. You’re just here for the data. You’re not a detective. Ask him out.”
Ollie shook his head. He wasn’t entirely sure if he wanted dating Jeremy to be a conflict of interest or not. He hadn’t dated anyone. Not in a long time. Not really, not ever. What was he doing, anyway? “He lives too far away. I’ll be back in New York in a month. Easy.”
“That’s an excuse. If you like him. Go out with him. Hell, maybe getting laid would do you good.”
Ollie snorted. “That’s for sure.” He knew exactly how long it had been since he’d gotten any. Hookups he could do, and in New York, they’d been frequent enough. Plus, he had Corey Bishop. A good friend and in for a good fuck if they were both unattached and needing release. It was nice to have a friend he could count on, have sex with occasionally, but wouldn’t ever ask or expect more than that from them. In Jacksonville? None. Nada. Nothing. La negative. Not even Corey, since he was back in New York.
Walker bumped into his side. “Go for it.”
Ollie watched him walk away. He bit at his lip. He did want to see Jeremy again. Wanted to see those sapphire eyes, wide open, as he came apart. Wanted to hear that sweet voice, not humming or singing, but calling out. Maybe calling Ollie’s name. “Maybe I will.” Maybe they could be a fun hookup while he was in Jacksonville. At least until Jeremy went back home. Even if it was a conflict of interest, hell, Ollie never gave a damn about what anyone else said, anyway. He made his own rules.
