We’re pleased to have author Victoria Sue joining us today to celebrate the release of her new book, Guarding His Melody, book four in the Enhanced World series. We’ve got a great character interview to share with you today, and there’s also a giveaway so be sure to check out those details below.
Welcome, Victoria!
***Lisa interviews Victoria Sue, Sebastian Armitage and Gray Darling. VS is sitting next to Gray and Sebastian is on the other side of him, touching his hand.
Lisa: “Hi everyone and welcome to The Novel Approach. I’m so pleased to welcome Sebastian—”
Seb: “Seb, please.”
Lisa: “Seb, of course.”
VS: “He must like you already. He only lets people he likes call him Seb.”
(Gray grunts in an annoyed fashion)
Seb: “What did he say?” Looks behind him to Gray.
VS: “Nothing articulate.”
Lisa: “I hope you don’t mind me asking but I understand you are deaf? How did you know Gray had even made a noise?”
Seb: “Vibrations, but that’s only because I wasn’t actually looking at him. I was being polite (prods Gray) and looking at the nice lady asking the questions.”
VS: reached over and touches Seb’s hand to get his attention: “I think you may have to explain the vibrations thing a little more.”
Seb: (turns to Lisa) “Did you know Beethoven still composed after he was deaf? It helped that he already knew the sounds, but some people say he used a pencil or a piece of wood between his teeth to feel the vibrations and touch one end to the soundboard.”
Gray: “I thought that was Mozart?”
VS: “He always gets it wrong.”
Gray: “And there’s been a lot of recent research to show that deaf people sense vibrations in the same part of the brain that others hear.”
Seb: (looking at Gray) “Aww, you do take notice of me sometimes.”
Gray: “I take a lot of notice of you…maybe sometimes more than others.”
Lisa: “Victoria, how challenging was it to write their story? Your enhanced series usually involves an FBI team?”
VS: “I wanted to explore the enhanced world a little. To find out what happens to people either not on the FBI team or not in trouble with them. Although I do admit to the team making a tiny bit of a cameo appearance at the end.”
Seb: “And Danny, don’t forget you promised to write about Danny.”
VS: (Grins.) “I did.”
Gray: “Why does he get his own story?”
Seb: “Why not?” Looks at VS. “You’re going to have to get him a sweetheart of his own.” (Gray rolls his eyes and VS starts taking notes.) “And he needs to be yummy…Oh, no, I know. He needs to make yummy things. Can he be a baker? And Danny eats his brownies.”
(Gray sniggers and Seb elbows him.) “Not those sorts of brownies.”
VS: (writing furiously.) “So the enhanced bakes—cookies? brownies? Anything like that?”
Seb: “Yes, and he has his own shop but he always hides in the back because he doesn’t like people seeing him.”
VS: “And Danny goes to visit?”
Seb: “Yes, but something happens…”
Gray: “Terrorists seize the cookie dough?” (He gets another elbow for his smart comment and then a kiss)
Lisa: (Trying to get them both back on track.) “Gray, I understand you started out as Seb’s bodyguard? Or do you prefer the term – personal protection?”
Gray (shrugs): “It all means the same. Someone looks sideways at Seb and I’ll shoot them.”
VS: “You do not. Seb, you told me you’ve been working on Gray’s anger management?”
Gray: (nods.) “He has. I just shoot annoying romance authors now.”
VS shakes her head and Lisa snickers.
Gray: “And the odd blog owner for target practice.”
Lisa: (arches an eyebrow) “Bring it on big guy. I’m a mom of teenagers, you can’t scare me.”
About the Book
A standalone in the Enhanced World
Deaf since childhood, Sebastian Armitage had a promising musical future until his dreams were shattered when he transformed at twelve years old. In a world where enhanced humans are terrorized and imprisoned, his life shrinks around him even more as he suffers the torment of his father’s experimental research to enable him to hear.
Gray Darling—struggling with the scars left by his experience in Afghanistan—agrees to provide short-term personal protection when anonymous threats escalate into assault on those closest to Seb.
As the lines between protection and attraction blur, Gray and Seb can’t ignore the intense feelings drawing them together. But secrets and betrayals might prove deadly, unless Gray is willing to risk it all. And Seb must find the strength to make his own future and sing his own song.
