Blurb: Ten years ago, Dominic Walsh faked his own death. With no true identity, it wasn’t hard. But if he’d stayed, he would have been drawn further into a life he’d never chosen. He has friends and family at Ward Security now and has managed to escape his dark past. There is only one thing he truly wants.
Abraham Stephens.
When Dom was first tasked with watching over his friend’s father, he didn’t expect to fall so hard for the gorgeous silver fox. But Abe is interested in friendship only. He’s at a point in his life where he wants something permanent, not a romp with the sexy redhead who happens to be the same age as his son.
But Abe finds himself drawn deeper into Dom’s life when cryptic messages start appearing—ones that frighten the skilled security specialist. The more Dom tries to hide what’s happening, the more Abe wants to help him.
And maybe, just maybe, he’ll find a way to trust the strength of the bond Dom understood from the start.
Review: After a bad divorce, Abraham Stephens has been on his own for a few years. He loves creating hand-carved chairs and unique window frames from wood, and it occupies his time. His son, Shane, is grown, has a great partner, Quinn, and his life is pretty well put together. So while it seems Abe is happy, he’s also very tempted by Dominic Walsh, who works for Ward Security and is eighteen years younger.
Dom met Abe while working a case for his son, and was injured. Thoughts of the older man have seriously turned Dom around, and he’s not looking for hookups anymore. Dom wants to do this right and not rush Abe, but the temptation is bigger than both of them. As the relationship starts to get hot and heavy between them, Abe is quick to figure out something is going wrong in Dom’s life.
Dom has a terrifying past he’s kept secret, and it has come back with a vengeance to haunt him. When Dom goes missing, Abe takes his concerns to Shane, Rowe, and the Ward Security gang, and they jump into action. And even though Abe gets Dom back, they know there’s no escaping the psychopathic evil. Abe has a plan, so he calls in a favor from Trent Elrige, a Hollywood A-lister who Dom was recently protecting, and the men of Ward Security are ready to act.
Get ready for some word building as well as cryptic messages, car crashes, suspense, a murdering psychopath, fight scenes, humor, two men that burn up the pages, and an action-packed plot made for the big screen. I never expect anything less from Drake & Elliott. Along with mentions of all my favorite men from the Unbreakable Bonds and Ward Security series, there’s a few new cast members—Cole, Daniel and maybe Trent Elrige will be back in future novels—and we get a little tease about Andrei and Lucas. Readers are also treated to a free novella at the end, Jackson, and last but not least, we get another amazing cover by Stephen Drake. Just brilliant!
