Welcome to author SJD Peterson, who’s dropping in today to chat with us about her novel Calculated Magic, a brand new addition to Dreamspinner Press’s Dreamspun Beyond house line!
Don’t Dismiss Magic
Recently someone asked me what I wanted the reader to take away from my new book. The first thing to pop in my head was “Have fun.” Calculated Magic is a cute, light hearted story. It doesn’t contain my normal amount of angst and not a shred of the edgy erotica I typically write. However, the more I thought about it, there is a deeper message in this story.
Don’t Dismiss Magic
It’s true that you may not ever get to slay a three headed dog with a wave of your wand or wiggle your nose and be sitting on a beach in the Caribbean. But that doesn’t mean magic isn’t real. It’s around us every day, with every sunrise and sunset. It happens each time a child takes their first breath or a bird takes flight. One only has to ask anyone who has been in love if magic is real and you’ll get a resounding, YES!
So, keep your eyes and your heart open and you’ll find your magic.
I’d love to know what your definition of magic is and an example of when and where you witnessed it. One lucky commenter will receive a free ebook copy of any book from my back list.

About the Book
Never too late for love.
Three-hundred-and-fifty-year-old warlock Tikron must find his true love or forfeit his immortality. But if he hasn’t found his ideal mate in all these centuries, the prospects don’t look too bright.
That is, until he sees mathematician Richard Beaumont. It’s love at first sight and Tikron’s future just go a whole lot brighter.
Except Richard doesn’t believe in love at first sight. He doesn’t believe in love at all. He certainly doesn’t believe in magic. His life is ruled by statistics and logic, and they tell him a relationship with Tikron has only a 10 percent chance of success. That’s unacceptable—even if the attraction between them is off the charts.
With his powers waning and the clock ticking down, Tikron’s last hope is showing Richard the true meaning of magic.
