Blurb: They found exactly what they weren’t looking for.
Logan:
I had almost everything I’d ever wanted—career, friends, my own easy life in Sawyer’s Ferry, Alaska. I’d given up on filling in the missing pieces long ago. Now, I was more than satisfied with the perfectly practiced, perfectly predictable routine I’d created for myself. At least until Jackson Daley walked into my clinic.
Jackson:
Working the rigs is temporary. Everything in my life is. Jobs, cities, and the guys I take home—nothing sticks, and that’s exactly the way I like it. After four years in Alaska, I’m itching to pick up and leave. I’m ready to move on and start over someplace new, until a one-night stand I can’t seem to shake has me breaking all my own rules.
Now as I get closer to walking away, my reasons for leaving seem blurrier than ever, and for the first time in my life, there could be something worth staying for.
Review: After reading and falling in love with Alaska this past spring, I’ve been chomping at the bit for Cate Ashwood to take us back to Sawyer’s Ferry. There was no question that Logan, Gage’s best friend from the first book, needed his own story, and we finally got it with Ashwood’s new release, Bishop Ridge. I’m not gonna lie, Gage is still my boo, and he and Holden are still my favorite, but Logan is a verrrry close second. I truly adored him, and I enjoyed him and Jackson together a lot.
Though I liked both MCs, if I was forced to choose a favorite, it would hands down be Logan, and I think the main reason is that we were able to really get to know him more through his history in Sawyer’s Ferry and with the people there. I felt connected to him because of his rich backstory, and because of that connection I found myself invested in his happiness. And, to achieve that happiness, he had to figure out that his current M.O. wasn’t working. Being Gage and Holden’s third wheel wasn’t going to lead to contentment any more than a steady string of hookups, but Logan had made himself believe that he didn’t want anything long-term. So, when he meets Jackson, who he has an instant and intense attraction to, and who clearly doesn’t want any strings either, it seems like an obvious win.
Jackson is also immediately hot for Logan when he has the good fortune to meet him at the clinic in Belcourt. Jackson is there for a consult, and it’s Logan’s weekend to do the clinic, but they can hardly get through the appointment with all the UST in the room. They didn’t have to wait for long, though, because they “accidentally” ran into each other at the market after Logan’s shift (Jackson had every intention of seeing the good doctor again, and pretty much orchestrates their bumping into each other), and it quickly escalates into a steamy night at Jackson’s place.
Ashwood has given us another good read with Bishop Ridge. It wasn’t quite the knockout for me that Alaska was, but there are tons of things to love about it. The secondary characters are memorable and entertaining. Both Logan and Jackson have some nice, vulnerable moments, one in particular with Logan that broke my heart. The town itself is becoming so real to me I feel like I can almost see the whole thing in my mind. There was one scene in the book, a little pre-Thanksgiving town festival, that had so much rich detail, I was instantly smitten for Sawyer’s Ferry and Logan’s love for it. As you can see, I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and this story, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. 😊
