half my age,
my son’s friend,
and he calls me Daddy.
I bring him to his knees until he does the same to me.
“He was like a greedy little puppy, trying to please me. And goddamn, I needed him to need me.”

Review: This is the Story of Dave and Carter, a story which begins in the book Take It All, a Steamy Encounters Collection. Dave and Carter have their first scene in that book, but it is just that, a scene, a snippet. If you don’t want to read it first, you don’t have to, but it is hot, and it does set the groundwork for these two—it is the jumping off point for their story, so I highly recommend reading it first. If you haven’t read Quin & Perin, they are a group of writers based in the United States and Germany, and they love to write gay erotica. This story is no exception, the heat level is high and while you won’t find the word sweet attached to it, romantic (in spots) definitely applies.
After Dave and Carter have that one explosive Daddy/boy encounter, Dave can’t stop thinking about and obsessing over this new kink he has discovered inside himself. Who knew having someone call you Daddy was such a turn on. The opportunities to take care of someone, to see to their needs and have them trust you with that level of control is a new and heady discovery for Dave. Unfortunately for Dave, and for us as readers, it takes a while for Dave to give in and fully embrace his kinky side openly. I see this book as really Dave’s journey into self-discovery. and it can at times be an emotional one. Our authors redeem Dave in the end, but whew, getting there was tough. Dave rather liked to have his cake and eat it too, for a protracted portion of this story. He was so concerned about what others thought of him that he couldn’t allow himself to be the Daddy that Carter needed, and that ended up being rather sad to me.
Carter has obsessed about his best friend’s dad for years. Finally, he catches a glint that Dave might feel the same way and decides to go out on a limb and seduce the man. The sex that follows is so far beyond what Carter ever hoped that he’s basically ruined for anyone else—ever—even though he is set to go to college in a few weeks. When life starts to overcome Carter, and school is tougher than he thought it would be, discovering that Dave might want to help him through the hard parts, help him to get his life together and offer him the structure he craves, is an opportunity Carter is not going to turn his back on. And it works, for years. Carter knows that Dave says that they should keep their relationship a secret, but as the months pass by, he gets more and more ready to step out of the shadows and be the partner, not just the boy, that he knows deep down Dave wants him to be. But when the realization hits that he is just the dirty little secret in Dave’s closet, he finally knows that he has to walk away. He needs, he deserves a Daddy who will take care of him in all parts of his life, both public and private.
This story spans several years, and there is a gap in the middle where our MCs go their separate ways. Carter walks away, and then Dave sends him away. But oh my, when these two finally get themselves together, the reunion is amazing!
“Why…?” he managed to gasp through his tears; eyes pinched shut. “Baby, I didn’t want to hold you back.” Carter banged his fists against my chest, a final, weak time, burying his face into the crook of my shoulder. “You were all I ever” – a sharp, shaky inhale – “needed.”
Dave, Daddy, he’d been my harbor, my everything.
Overall, I enjoyed this foray into Dave and Carter’s lives. There’s a lot packed into such a short story, and that is a testament to the team who wrote it. If you bought Take It All and enjoyed meeting Carter and Dave there, then you will definitely want to grab this continuation of their story. If you haven’t read the first book, never fear, this story stands on its own and is a scorcher in the sex department. These men have a chemistry that is off the charts in those moments when Dave allows Carter behind his walls. I wish we had been privy to more of those moments, overall, but I still enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend it.
