We’re so pleased to have author Skylar M. Cates dropping by today to celebrate the upcoming release of her new holiday romance, The Christmas Lights Battle. We’ve got a teaser from the book to share with you as well as a giveaway, so be sure to check out the entry instructions too!
Welcome, Skylar!
About the Book
For a single dad and his neighbor, the Christmas competition is on!
Julian Moss wants to give his children a happy Christmas. Since his divorce, Julian has no time for a social life; he’s been doing the tiring work of two parents while his cheating ex-husband dodges his responsibilities. If that isn’t stressful enough, he has to deal with his new—and ridiculously good-looking—neighbor and his noisy dogs. Christmas used to be Julian’s favorite holiday, but lately all he sees is the cost. Then Julian’s young son tells him about a Christmas lights competition with a much-needed prize.
Leo Adams is going to be alone for Christmas…again. All he’s ever wanted is to be accepted by his family, but he knows that will never happen. Deciding to focus on his career as a personal trainer, Leo develops a boot camp program on the beach, but he needs publicity. The lights competition offers Leo a way to get some free press, and if it annoys his snooty neighbor Julian—all the better.
The battle is on, and both Julian and Leo want to win. The stakes are high, the reward is great, and the neighbors are in it to win it. There’s nothing like a little competition to make Christmas at Shelby Beach extra merry and bright.

The Teaser
Julian came closer. He didn’t rush anything, simply began to massage Leo’s shoulders, and it made Leo relax. They began to kiss again. Julian kissed Leo’s neck before helping him remove his shirt.
“Oh, God.” He stared at Leo’s body for a moment. Leo didn’t want Julian to lose the confidence he found so sexy in some kind of comparison, so he cupped the sides of Julian’s face, drawing his attention back, and kissed him hungrily. Leo needed to taste Julian’s lips and his tongue. He plundered Julian’s mouth as they stumbled to Leo’s bed.
Julian kissed him all over—strong, sucking kisses on his neck and stomach and thighs—as Leo dug his fingers into Julian’s back, and with each touch he felt more alive.
“I want you.” Leo panted.
Julian shook his head. “It’s been so long since anybody did.”
The Giveaway
Skylar, here. Thanks so much for hosting me today.
I’m thrilled to do a fun giveaway and share an exclusive teaser from The Christmas Lights Battle: A Shelby Beach Romance. Leo and Julian stole my heart this year, and I can’t wait to share their story with all of you.
I adore holiday books. Each year, I’m grateful for my family and friends, including my friends in this wonderful community. To spread some joy today, I’m offering a holiday giveaway.
While I love many people in my family, one special person in my life was my Uncle Davie. He was always full of mischief, but he was full of sweetness too. I miss him every holiday season.
On New Year’s Eve, he snuck all the kids extra cookies, and Uncle Davie gave us our first cocktails too (don’t tell my mom).
He loved to travel and gamble. He was flawed, funny, and fabulous. He died in his sleep when he was in his late seventies, and there wasn’t a dry eye at his funeral.
In The Christmas Lights Battle, I named one of the dogs after him. I think he would have gotten a kick out of it. He always had a great sense of humor. Every New Year’s Eve, there comes a moment when I think about my uncle and how much he meant to me.
Who is somebody in your life that made the holidays extra special?
One lucky commenter will get any e-book from my backlist.
***Giveaway Closes at 11:59pm Eastern Time on Friday, December 7, 2018
I’m not a people person so holidays and people got me bonkers. But I love it when my sis and her family came; I rarely saw my niece and it’s great to have special time with her. :)
Thank you for sharing! There is nobody special in that sense in my family, we all behave more or less the same during Christmas. We bitch and complaint, but we end up really enjoying ourselves
I get the bonkers part. I feel that whenever it is my turn to host the holidays! Thanks for commenting on the post.
My mom always works incredibly hard to make sure the holiday is special for everyone in our family.
My Great Aunt Helen used to make the most fantastic “painted” sugar cookies. They were such precise little works of art!
My mom makes everything special!
All my siblings, they decide to try new holidays and force me to try it out too. Otherwise I would be too lazy and would just want to be left to my own devices.
Not someone, but my family :)
