Blurb: “Lee Tyack-Frayne’s summer of love – what a time he’d picked for it, with the rest of the world melting down in hate!”
High summer in the wild southwest, and Lee and Gideon are living out a dream of family life, their daughter thriving and even the starchy-arsed minister/brother-in-law entirely human and happy with children of his own. Who could wish for anything more?
But to Lee it does feel dreamlike, and he’s been working too hard. When one psychic flash stops a sinister intruder at a school, Gideon declares his husband off-duty for the summer, doing nothing more than look after Tamsyn and watching the apples ripen in the orchard of their beautiful home.
Lee would be only too happy to agree, but something is wrong. The same sleepy contentment that makes these days with Gid a summer paradise is shielding him – shielding them both – from truths that ought to have been addressed between them long ago. Who is Alice Rawle, and what strange power is causing Gideon to change in its grasp? What fatal veil is blinding these two devoted men to each other’s true nature, and will the pressures from the outside world be enough to sweep all their hard-earned happiness away?
Review: Only one thing came to mind with the final words of To Find Him and Love Him Again, volume one of this two part novel—Harper Fox, what have you done? The answer to that question is manifold, and all the potential responses culminate with masterful storycrafting.
Love has always provided a way for Lee and Gideon Tyack-Frayne to find their way through and out of the myriad challenges they’ve faced over the course of their six years together, but Fox has set them their greatest obstacle yet in this emotionally gripping installment of her much-loved series. A threat from Gid and Lee’s past has returned, a curse has been spoken, the spell cast, and now the Guardian and the Prophet must battle both time and the tide of events to reclaim their destiny and their family. Now, they must go back to the beginning, to recreate their origin story, and readers must have faith that a love like theirs—one of trust and a deep, abiding certainty—will prevail.
As always, the Cornish countryside provides the ideal backdrop for the magick and mysticism at play. Gideon’s course has been set while Lee’s is now less certain, and Harper Fox leaves readers in anticipation of what will become—not only of them but of those they love and have fought to protect for so long. Will the Preacher, the Prophet, and the Beast ally with the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone—the three, the trinity, the all—to deliver Gid and Lee to the when and the where it’s already been made clear they belong? Only time will tell. And only this author could spin a tale such as this, allowing readers to ask the sorts of questions that have nothing to do with this side of the veil and everything to do with those that we have no definitive answers or explanations for.
The Tyack and Frayne series has always been composed of a bit of dream weaving and fever vision wrapped in a romance for the ages. Lee and Gideon have become a staple of the genre, the very definition of the love of a lifetime that will now come full-circle, and we are left with something like hope to see this most recent challenge through to its resolution. Fox’s gift for composing an atmosphere of words into a concert of imagination and romance and the bonds of family and friendship remains a unique and welcome gift to her readers.

Ooh, excited to see new instalments coming, one of my favourite series!
Oh my gosh, Harper Fox is putting Lee and Gid through some things! I wouldn’t swear to it, but it feels like she might be winding the series down – not sure if the next book will be the last, but I’ll be reading all of them again, start to finish and likely more than once. I love these guys and the world they live in so much <3
