At a Glance: Pieces of You is a romance built upon hope and faith and trust, and it delivers all the promise of something even more beautiful to come. This may be Walker’s most deeply romantic book yet. If not the most, it’s absolutely in the running for first place.

Blurb: Dallas Muller has everything he never expected he’d have. He owns a successful motorbike mechanic shop in Newcastle, and he’s madly in love with his boyfriend of four years, Justin Keith.
Justin has always struggled to find where he fit in, never realising his true worth or what it means to be loved—until he met Dallas. Living and working together might be too much for some, but Dallas and Justin wouldn’t have it any other way.
When a terrible accident tears their world apart, Justin’s left with no memory of Dallas or their relationship. Trying to put the pieces back together is almost impossible when some pieces are blank and some are missing altogether. Dallas has to let Justin find his own way back to him and just hope that their love will light the way.
Review: The saying “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end” is brought to life in N.R. Walker’s Pieces of You, in the story of two men who have loved each other for five years, lived together, worked together, made a life together, and then lost it all in one singularly fateful moment.
When discussing the theme of second chances in the Romance genre, we often refer to it as two people who are given the opportunity to right the wrongs that caused them to fail the first time around. In the case of Pieces of You, however, Walker offers her characters, Dallas Muller and Justin Keith, the truest and, frankly, most poignant definition of a second chance. They didn’t fall out of love. They didn’t make mistakes or succumb to misunderstandings or a lack of communication. They are the victims of an accident, a cruel cosmic wrench thrown into the gears of their life together when a semi driver loses control of his truck in the rain and hydroplanes at full speed into Justin’s van. In a matter of moments five years were erased as though they’d never existed. Justin suffers a traumatic brain injury, and his life with Dallas, the love they share, suddenly ceased to exist. And perhaps the cruelest of twists is that it only ceased to exist for Justin, so Dallas is left alone with every single scrap of love, and all those memories, unrequited.
Through Justin’s long recovery, which is not fully accomplished in this book, nor does it begin without it taking an emotional toll on Dallas, Walker shows readers what a deep, abiding, committed, unconditional love looks like. Dallas is nothing but invested, in no uncertain terms, in helping Justin through this…even if it means losing him in the process. Even if it means Justin doesn’t fall in love with Dallas all over again. And then the story goes on to show readers exactly why Justin won’t be able to help but to fall in love with Dallas all over again. This first leg of their rebuilding time culminates in a profoundly romantic way which sets up the continuation for the next book in the trilogy.
The established couple is like the Romance genre’s unicorn—or nearly so—and I love it, so kudos to N.R. Walker for going there as well as for offering up a love story that’s sweet, touching, dramatic, and uplifting. I was intensely invested in this story from page one, and I didn’t put the book down until I’d seen Dallas and Justin through to the end of their old and the start of their new beginning. Pieces of You is a romance built upon hope and faith and trust, and it delivers all the promise of something even more beautiful to come. This may be Walker’s most deeply romantic book yet. If not the most, it’s absolutely in the running for first place.
