Title: Percy and Joe in Degenerate Art
Series: The Adventures of Percy and Joe: Book One
Author: W.H. Lockwood
Publisher: Amazon/Kindle Unlimited
Length: 61 Pages
Category: Action/Adventure
Rating: 4 Stars
At a Glance: Written exceptionally well is the action scene that reveals who Percy and Joe are. I was invested from the moment the villains arrived, and in the choreography and dry humor with which Percy coolly dispatched them, one by one, as Joe bantered and bartered with him. Hook baited.

Blurb: Percy Ashdown and Joe Bruno really shouldn’t work. A dashing art historian with a thirst for violence, a sexy priest with no idea what he signed up for, and a bucket-load of crushing memories from the terrifying supernatural disaster that almost killed them both.
And yet… there’s that burning attraction that simply cannot be ignored.
In an attempt to move on from their traumatic past, Joe has agreed to join his hot, top-secret, and possibly insane new boyfriend, Percy, on holiday in Kraków. At least he thought it was a holiday, until an unexpected discovery reveals that Percy has been keeping a very dark secret…
Having spent years tracking and infiltrating a criminal network, today Percy will finally collect his reward, no matter how much blood he has to spill. He probably shouldn’t have invited his hot, sweet, far-too-innocent new boyfriend, Joe, along on this trip… but then he never expected Joe to find out what he’s really up to…
When these two unlikely heroes come together in the most unlikely of circumstances, all hell will break loose in this darkly humorous, bloodthirsty, action-packed, romantic MM art heist.
Percy Ashdown and Joe Bruno really shouldn’t work. But no one told them that.
Review: At the risk of emphasizing the obvious, the success of a serialization begins with book one and how well the author baits the hook and, more importantly, leaves me wanting more. Consider me hooked and anticipating despite the knowledge gaps inherent in not having read the series of books Percy and Joe’s adventures are spun-off from. My lack of familiarity meant some detachment from the bit of backstory we neophytes are offered, but it did little to keep me from being intrigued by these characters and where they’ll go from here.
Percy and Joe were introduced in W.H. Lockwood’s Endymion College trilogy and, I presume, made quite the impression for them to get their own series. Understandably so, I might add, as they are two utterly compelling characters—Percy, the art historian who knows how to take a punch and deliver death; and Joe, the priest who seemingly indulges Percy’s tendency to unalive people and loves him anyway. These two men are bound for adventures, made for them, and are seemingly up to the task of meeting, head on, whatever comes their way.
Written exceptionally well is the action scene that reveals who Percy and Joe are. I was invested from the moment the villains arrived, and in the choreography and dry humor with which Percy coolly dispatched them, one by one, as Joe bantered and bartered with him. Though whether Joe was truly committed to his part, I wouldn’t swear to. His lack of judgement where Percy’s business dealings are concerned remains a point of intrigue.
Hook baited.
