Blurb: Two lost souls…one uncanny journey.
Cynic, enforcer, and all-around dangerous guy—Gino is hardly surprised to find himself dumped on the riverbank. His gun, wallet and cellphone are long gone, though he has been left with one hell of a splitting headache.
But Gino’s not the only one in dire straits. Soon a damaged young man named Shane discovers his party friends aren’t really friends at all, and now he too is stuck in the middle of nowhere.
One man is a blunt weapon, while the other has never quite measured up—neither with any good prospects for a bright future. But when their paths collide, they embark on an extraordinary journey of redemption and self-discovery. Together, they confront the unknown and forge an unbreakable bond that defies the odds. Will they find solace and salvation, or will they be consumed by the secrets of their past?
Review: “Two broken souls didn’t meet to write a story, they collided to create a saga.” ~ Author Unknown
The mark of a good short story is in how much more time I wanted to spend with the characters at the end, while also feeling grateful I got to know them at all. The mark of a great storyteller is in the creation of an atmosphere so ephemeral that while encompassing one of the greatest unknowns of human existence, there is also the presence of something so familiar—a connection of souls—and it’s accomplished in just sixty-nine pages.
The River’s Edge is a tale of time, of infinity, of unity, of perplexity. There is a level of tension to the story that meets the inscrutable that completes the simple miracle of falling in love. When right now is all that matters, and the infinite will take care of itself in due time, Gino and Shane become each other’s lodestars in an ever-circuitous dreamscape. Jordan Castillo Price conceives the inconceivable and then brings it to life (pun fully intended) in the story of two men who have earned a little grace and redemption.
