At a Glance: The sweet one, the sassy one, and the stoic one walked into a bar. What happened from that moment on was brilliant. I’m sorry to see these characters go, but it’s been an utter joy spending time with them.

Blurb: An ex-adult movie star, a broke vampire daddy, and a boring human are about to try and save the world…

It’s probably our fault your world is doomed, if I’m honest. Sorry about that. Sticking with honesty, we’re not great at saving people, or ourselves. You should probably pack a bag and head for the hills.

You know, just in case…

My name is Adam Vex, and I’m definitely not the hero we all need, but along with Zee and Victor, a whole bunch of s*x demons, one shadow beast, a sassy AI bartender, and some uncontrollable gremlins, we’re all you’ve got.

Welcome to the end of the world at the SOS Hotel.

We hope you enjoy your final resting place.

Review: Sometimes a series comes along that makes me wish I could read it all over again for the first time. This is one of them. Adam Vex (aka Ariana Nash) exceeded any expectations I might have had digging into Book One, and then effortlessly guided me through to this, the finale, every bit as captivated and charmed as I’ve ever been by a fantasy and its characters.

“The final battle wasn’t going to wait for us to figure it out. It was coming, whether we were ready or not.”

The SOS Hotel is home to Adam, Zee, and Victor. To every other Lost One, it is refuge. It’s a little helter-skelter, sure, but what’s a few gremlins when compared to the potential dangers that lurk outside the hotel’s wards? Chaos and danger are always in pursuit, revenge and ruination are the goal, and it all coalesces to bring Adam’s prophecy to fruition. Whether that will be to the betterment or detriment of San Francisco—or the rest of the world, for that matter—is unknown.

Vex/Nash rendered this world and its inhabitants so cleverly and then made the characters so terribly endearing that their feelings and emotions were tangible. In the throes of the final battle, when life or death are the only two options, the investment in the outcome was all-consuming. Knowing the hero would prevail in the end (this is a romance series too, after all) didn’t diminish the tension or danger of that arc. It only intensified the investment in the outcome; that being Adam, Zee, and Victor basking in their happily ever after.

The sweet one, the sassy one, and the stoic one walked into a bar. What happened from that moment on was brilliant. I’m sorry to see these characters go, but it’s been an utter joy spending time with them.
